To go to the top there are 227 steps which my wife could just not take so we did not do this. However, we were allowed to go inside and look around the ground floor, including an interactive touchscreen information thing about Washington. And the bust that has been there since the 1800s was cool to see. We were not... More

Thank you for visiting Baltimore’s Washington Monument. In addition to the tower climb, we welcome many visitors to the main floor gallery level and are very glad you stopped in. The space you visited was restored as part of a major restoration project completed in 2015 and is historically focused - even with the interactive exhibits. The electronic exhibits in... More

We very much enjoyed visiting here. Unfortunately, we were not able to climb to the top of the tower because it was not open. We were very disappointed in that. However, we LOVED walking around the Mt. Vernon area. SO NEAT....well worth the visit. And it was FREE!!

Had a stroll in the neighbourhood and decided to visit the monument as I was in Baltimore. Quite spectacular and has rich historical connotations!

Mt Vernon Square is an area surrounded by interesting and important buildings. The Walter's Art Gallery, Peabody Institute and several good places to eat like the Helmand for great Afgan food, City Cafe, Iggies for pizza, and Akbar for Indian food. To visit the Square itself is nice especially in spring and fall as well between thanksgiving and Christmas when... More

This is the oldest Washington Monument in the country. The Mount Vernon area of Baltimore once housed the wealthy of the city. It is still beautiful and probably expensive. The row houses are enormous and you can tour the Engineers Club and get an idea of how large these houses were. The club is actually two of them who belonged... More

Surrendering his commission atop the monument, George Washington can see all of Baltimore and now so can YOU. When you're finished with the touristy attractions at the harbor, walk less than 1 mile up Charles Street and then another 227 steps to the top of the country's FIRST Washington Monument. You'll have done something exciting that many other tourists don't... More

Driving by one day I noticed it was opened and I had a little bit of time before my next work stop, so I stopped in and went to the top. Wow what a fun experience!

If you are up for 200+ steps to top of the monument, I would recommend a visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The exhibits are interesting and the view at the top very nice.

The people who work there were very helpful and told me of other attractions to go to as well. This nice hike to the top was way worth the view. I would do this again in a heartbeat. It is quite narrow. Hard to pass people, that is why they limit the number of people climbing the stairs at the... More
