This was the first place we stopped once we got into Astoria. It's a really neat way to learn about Astoria's history and get some excel isle. I didn't go all the way up but others in our party did and took some spectacular view...More

The hilltop holds a breathtaking view of the town, river and bridge. One can climb up to the top and see as far as the eye can see, maybe even further. The idea of such a column with the history of Lewis & Clark is...More

Great views, we caught a sunny, warm day. But to be honest, the balsa airplane was probably the thing I enjoyed the most. Of course I took a camera and took a couple of panorama shots but there are already many good photos here.

It's a short drive from the highway, it offers a great view of the ocean and the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge, and it's free! You don't have to climb the stairs for a nice view, but if you're up for it, the view...More

The views are ever changing from the top of the hill at the column. It is well worth the 100+ stairs to the top of the column when it is clear. Don't forget to buy a few balsa airplanes at the gift shop before you...More

A nearly 360 degree view of the Columbia River and Mount Hood and Astoria...a place not to miss. Our 85 y/o buddy made it to the top...I didn't: acrophobia....

Awesome views, both from the ground and top of the column. The ascent to the top of the column is not for the claustrophobic or less-than-fond-of-heights person. But if you can make it, it's worth the hike up all 164 stairs. Parking is $5

164 steps to the top -- so worth it! The views from the top are amazing. You can see the entire city of Astoria from that far up. The history is written on the column. Don't pass it up.

This is worth the stop. The view of the area from the top is very nice. Kids (adults)should purchase a plane for a dollar to throw off the top. It costs $5 a vehicle to enter. The circular staircase can be crowded.

I could have spent the entire day there. The views are amazing and the weather was perfect. I would suggest packing a picnic lunch and a book and plan on staying at least a few hours. If I lived locally I would be there all...More

30 min is about right but if you're lucky and have a great day then you'd want a little longer. I say plan for an hour. If you're in that much of a hurry then don't go. I've been there twice BTW.
