The museum has a very interesting Coast Guard display which shows the challenges these service people face. The "Obon" exhibit was moving. The attached light house ship very cool, nothing I had seen before.

Fascinating displays depicting history of city and its maritime importance. Modern, well presented and child-friendly, many static vessels and dioramas to hold interest for hours. Especially interesting for the salmon industry, war-time significance and Coast Guard exhibits. There is the last working lightship to be retired moored outside and worth visiting.

Great place to visit if you are a Light House fan like my wife and I. Since there are not many light ships left in the US, I could not pass it up. Only draw back is that not much of it is open for the tour. Wish they would open the lower rooms up, i.e. the engine room and... More

My husband and I visited this beautiful museum and spent several hours here. There are many artifacts, hands on displays, informational videos, a gift shop and an optional penguin movie. I found the Coast Guard and Columbia river/bar pilot info to be the most interesting.

Reasonable priced, very modern and clean facility, excellent displays and tour of boat that is moored outside the main museum building. This outing is recommended.

Its a smaller place but top notch exhibits. Even has a retired USCG rescue vessel and exhibits. If you are a maritime enthusiast, gotta go.

You can take a leisurely pace to understand the maritime history of the region. The history of the US Destroyer Astoria is especially enlightening.

We stopped in because it was a rainy day and wow, am I glad we did. History of Astoria's growth, the fishing industry, and a touching exhibit by Odon Society. Highly recommended!

A great way to spend a few hours. All the history of the Columbia river including fishing, canning, and shipping. Some great video displays. If you want to learn any of the history of Astoria, this is the place.

We Really enjoyed visiting the Columbia River Maritime Museum. The exhibits were so well done. I now have a good understanding of the dangers the fishermen and women face along with the people who guard the coast. Additionally, I learned a great deal about the history of the area. My husband and I also enjoyed touring the Columbia Light Ship.
