The movie was great. Loved the presentation of History. We learned so much. Actually going on a coast guard ship topped it off.

I wasn't expecting a maritime museum to be as exciting and enlightening as this place is. The stories of rescues, brutal conditions and heroic crews are told with replicas, photos, and memorabilia from the maritime history of the mouth of the Columbia. Plan to take the time to learn about the fascinating situations that have taken place here, and you... More

The exhibits don't seem to change a lot over the years but some new things have been added and the older ones augmented with technology to better tell their stories. The views out to the river and the bridge in the mist were priceless.

Astoria has a long history as a town where people caught and processed fish and seafood. The Bumblebee seafood Company at one time had a major plant there. There were also a lot of immigrants who worked in the factories there, including the Swedish and Chinese. You can learn a lot about Oregon history by visiting this museum.

We were referred to this museum by friends and were NOT disappointed! The Astoria area is rich in maritime history and this museum captures that quite well for those of us who are not really familiar with the Columbia River area. I, personally, learned much from the exhibits during our short visit and felt the $14 admission fee was certainly... More

If you go to Astoria, this is one place you must go. There is so much history. You truly get a better sense of how dangerous it is coming over the bar.

As a Coast Guard Veteran and local to the west coast, this was worth way more than the cost of admission.

The museum has many interesting displays regarding the Coast Guard, boat pilots, WWII, fishing boats, and more. Many of the displays are interactive. The tour of the Columbia was closed when we were there but we were told to keep our tickets for admission on our next trip to Astoria.

We were only able to spend a 90 minutes at teh museum because we got there close to closing. We totally regretted it. We want to go back and spend several more hours. So much to see. Love the place.
