This preserve is in the heart of the city. The trails and boardwalks were nice and some birding was available. Nice place to enjoy some nature if you are staying close to Mayo Clinic,

I love this park, great little hikes near the intercoastal waterway. I do recommend having bug spray available~ because it's on the water. Generally a quiet little escape, there are facilities for kids, picnicking, clean bathrooms, hiking paths, small watercraft launch, boardwalk trails too.

The trails are limited in number and length but are very well marked with educational information regarding the flora and fauna. The shade is limited so take a hat and water.

Went walking on the trails. Don't go without wearing alot of bug spray and even bring some if you can. TONS of yellow flies that fly around your head so wear a hat and cover your ears. Really cool info posted on the trails. Worth...More

We were driving and, having passed by this before, decided to stop and take a look. It was during the heat of the day (3:00ish to about 4:30ish during July in North Florida). The preserve has picnic tables, restrooms, and 3 trails to explore. We...More

I visited this spot just for a short nature walk. There is a great little paved trail which contains some education stops along the way. Each stop has an exhibit plaque with information about a different creature which inhabits the island. Leading up to each...More

Nice park with trails and overlooks for birding. The park looks new as all the boardwalks are very new.

I was only on the first part, which is Boardwalk. It was me and my 90 yo patient in a w/c. I didn't see another soul. So, I will say it is very isolated. Wish I could be more definitive.
