I LOVE visting old forts. But come one this isn't a
fort". it is just a wooden wall with a couple of cannons. I did like learning about the history, but should have just stopped after the visitors center.

I can only imagine what life must have been like for these settlers. The fort is only a replica of what the fort looked like, but you can learn a lot from walking through the exhibits in the visitor center. The Hammock trail is also a great way to enjoy the outdoors. You can get great views of the river and the container ships that pass by.

Nicely preserved national park site which is the location of the first French settlement in the land that would later become the United States of America. Watch the film at the Visitor center. Very well done and informative...

I went with my corgi dog to hike the trails and it was a perfect day. Sunny but not to hot. We went on the longer trail and it was very pretty. The fort location was well keep With lots of written information and there seemed to be a lot of educational speaker/learning opposites.

The visitor center was also informative. I particularly liked going out on the pier to look at the water and back at the fort.

Fort Caroline is a part of the sprawling Timacuan Park. It tells a story about the little-known origins of European settlement in America when French Protestants settled on the Florida Coast before being wiped out in battle with the Spanish Catholics in the 16th Century. There is not much left from the time period, but there is a reconstruction of the small wooden fort built to protect the settlement and a monument to the founding of the colony that arguably preceded the more famous St. Augustine nearby.

Fort Caroline commemorates a French settlement in Florida. The site discussed the brief history of this colony, and the conflict between the French and Spanish settlers.

The true location of Fort Caroline is unknown and the earthworks at the site are a re-creation. It's a short walk to reach the fort, which is located on the river. The fort is small, and there's not much to see, but it is a nice spot for a walk.

Visited Fort Caroline while on a family vacation. Husband planned a history day so we drove from Orlando to Jacksonville for a day of history. Our first stop was Fort Caroline. We stopped at the visitor center and went thru the small museum area then headed outside to walk a trail and see the Fort. We saw a village typical for the Timucuuan Indians and learned about the Spanish massacre of the French. It was very interesting.

Do not miss this amazing historic site. So much to take in. Walk in the footsteps of early soldiers and area residents.

There really isn't much to see here. The fort is a replica and they aren't even sure how accurate the replica is since no bueprints have survived from that time period. It is also not in the location where the original fort was. The visitor's center/museum is currently closed due to Covid. There are some signs to read in the fort and the history is interesting but most people will be done in about 30 minutes. Not worth a special trip.

The fort isn’t the original fort but rather a replica of what historians believe the fort may have looked like. It is still really cool to visit and walk around seeing what life may have been like.
