i have a truly profound respect for Mrs. Roosevelt after visiting her home and learning so much about her. She was a strong force, but so down to earth. Never put on airs. Her home was simple and very welcoming.

A great National Park Service site. There is a fee charged for entrance/tours, however NPS passes (Senior, Annual and Access) are all honored and help to defer admission costs. Parking is free. Like with anything, the earlier you go, the less crowded things will be....More

Another great National Historic site. Friendly tram driver picked us up promptly for the short ride to the house. Great movie before the tour - led by a very knowledgeable, friendly guide. Well worth the visit !

It is historic and very interesting place to bring your family. I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of the visit and I am returning in two years time with a different group. Mrs. Roosevelt's life is so interesting. So much to learn from her philosophy. I...More

The site and tour were excellent. Unlike many historic homes, Valkill was less about the house and more about her life and times at the home. The ranger who gave our tour was great. He knew some great stories about Eleanor and the family. I...More

Well maintained- Summer cottage of Eleanor Roosevelt. Interesting theater information regarding this site. Nice hiking trails for 1.0 mile plus trek. Also hike to cottage on hill where President Roosevelt spent time.

The introductory movie was interesting but the tour of the house was disappointing. It was the last tour of the day so the Park Guide seemed to be in a hurry and did a lot of complaining about the possible reduction of staff under the...More
