The feeling while walking through the cemetery was like being in a church. For me it really brought home the cost of the battle. The most striking was the graves marked simply "UNKNOWN". If you go take a moment reflect and whisper a "thank you" to those who never went home.

Your visit should not be complete without a visit to the Gettysburg National Cemetery.. The cemetery is one of the reasons why the federal government designated the park as a Nat'l Park. I stood in the cemetery a looked at some of the markers. Many of the soldiers were not more than teenagers. What they encountered often running accross open... More

In our world today where so few of us have to actually go off somewhere to fight, we must all come to place like this and pay our respects in the most sincere way

This is where Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address. Really cool to see the spot and also to see the picture taken when he delivered the address. Worth the trip

Serene, stately and drives home the sacrifice of many for freedom. Flags stationed at each tombstone. Teaches young ones the price for what this country stands for.

My husband and I toured this at the end of our tour. It's a humbling and sobering place that brings together the sacrifices made. Take your time looking through the cemetery.

As with all military cemeteries, the Gettysburg National Cemetery is humbling. To understand and realize the sacrifices these soldier made for a cause they deeply believed in really allows you to understand the true nature of being an American.

Sections for Civil War, statues and monuments. Other veterans buried there as well. Noticed many from Dec 7, 1941--Pearl Harbor. Lincoln gave Gettysburg Address in this cemetery. Worth going through. Parking is kind of far away, walking through cemetery is a long hike.

One of the most interesting things to see at the Gettysburg National Cemetery is the Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address Memorial located not far from the cemetery entrance. The monument is approximately 300 yards from the actual spot where President Abraham Lincoln delivered one of the most famous and important speeches in American history. Lincoln's address was given on November 19, 1863... More

A trip to Gettysburg always merits a few moments spent in "The Hallowed Ground" upon which Lincoln trod more than one hundred and fifty years ago. Unfortunately though, high winds that developed later in the day cancelled the annual illumination ceremonies. Despite that, a few moments of thoughtful reflection cost absolutely nothing for those who had once done so much.
