Make sure to walk the National Cemetery with a Park Ranger or park docent. The stories of the men buried there are very moving. If possible plan to be there on an evening when taps are played at sunset. It is poignant.

This is a nice place to take a short walk around some of the many graves of fallen Civil War heroes located there. On this roughly 3/4 mile oval-shaped paved walk there are also numerous monuments honoring the various states' military units who fought at...More

I'm not a fan of soldier cemeteries open for fandom. I prefer to let them rest in peace but the national parks service seems to love it. It's a bit of Stroll and nice pieces.

We joined a ranger talk at 6pm before they played taps at 7pm. The ranger did a fantastic job bringing history to life. She ended with showing pictures of her husband relative who fought in the war along with current pictures of descendants. Just fantastic!

Gettysburg Museum was really good and should be seen first as we did. It's $14 for adults which gets you the movie, cyclorama and museum collection. The park is free and there are so many monuments to stop and see. Plan on a... More
