Excellent museum. Gives you the perspective on how the locals had to deal with the war. Recommend for the whole family. Multiple video presentations and excellent displays, including 3-d photos. Price is very reasonable which was under $10.

So you've toured the battlefield and heard about the military side of Gettysburg. Next go to the Gettysburg Heritage Center to learn about life in the town. Experience being in a cellar during the battle. The home front is as important as the battle.

This was the perfect starting spot for my Gettysburg adventure. My knowledge of the history of the area was incomplete & this place was both a refresher for what I had forgotten & and a source of information I never knew. The movie really put the 3-day conflict in perspective for me, and I especially liked the museum's focus on... More

We really enjoyed this museum, which focuses mostly on the people of Gettysburg and how their lives just before, during and after the battle were affected. We found it to be unique in this respect and well worth the admission ($32 for 5). While not as large as the official Battlefield Visitor's Center, it has similarly well thought out exhibits.... Since we visit Gettysburg every year several times a year we have visited the former Wax Museum that use to be here many times. But now the wax museum is gone and the Gettysburg Heritage Center has replaced it. I cannot say enough good about this new Gettysburg Heritage Center, the remodel that was done is absolutely amazing. The museum... More

I would highly recommend this as it tells you how the people of Gettysburg felt when the fighting was going on. There are videos and information and a cellar experience not to miss.

This location is the former home of the Gettysburg Wax Museum and it changed ownership and themes about 3-4 years ago (I think). While I have frequented the extremely nice gift and book shop in the lobby many times since the change over this was the first time I went through the museum. Not sure why I waited so long.... More

I left my cc at the front desk and didn't realize until hours later. The gentlemen that worked there went up and down the street looking for my family to return it. Whence couldn't find us he put it in the safe, and I retrieved it today. Very cool! Good battle descriptive film show, store, and many books. Thank you!

This center didn't appear near the top of things to do but it should. The movie really put the battle and strategy into perspective. Was renovated recently and is beautiful. Although there's lots to read, told facts that weren't mentioned on our tours. The cellar experience really brought the war to life, along with the make shift hospital. Large gift... More

This is a great place to visit! I was here circa 2002 with my older boys; it was a wax museum and a bit eerie. No more! They have redone nearly everything and it is well-worth an hour or more. They have done a tremendous job in renovating and making this excellent. The layout creates a nice flow. Make sure... More
