The Visitor Center here has a good exhibit and film that describes the Woodland Native Americans that built these mounds, and how the mounds were an integral part of their life and culture. I found it interesting that archeologists still don't have a good understanding...More

There is a short movie available to watch and there are the Rangers who are available for guided walks. There are numerous instructional paths to follow, with elevation, so bring good walking shoes

The only way to see the mounds was quite a hike; 2 miles was the short one. Not everyone in our group was able to go. The bathrooms were closed but they had portable toilets. The film was okay but a bit dated. I guess...More

There is a visitor center and they offer a 15 minute film but the real experience is while walking the trails and seeing the burial mounds. In addition to that, there are fantastic views of the Mississippi River and its surroundings. It's about a 300...More

So, I have an interest in all Native American things and had to stop here on a road trip. I was happy to learn that there are no made up stories about what these mounds are or might be...they readily admit we really don't know!...More
