Beautiful....but the seats

This is a beautiful theater! Only complaint, the seats are very close together & not very comfortable.

Took our granddaughter to a Saturday matinee performance of Shen Yun which she loved! The theater was easy to access and is a beautiful old building with great architectural details that definitely give you the feeling of days gone by. Only complaint is that the seats are very close together with little leg room for an adult.

Saw Shen Yun. Though we were in upper level, could see quite well. But had to walk down steps, and there were no rails. My ambulation is a bit shaky right now, and I was more than a little nervous walking down without having anything to grab

The Merriam Theater located at the Academy of Music, Kimmel Center is way past it's prime. The seats are close together with practically no leg room. The "hike," to the basement for the restrooms is not to to be taken lightly. Once you go down you have to back up - no elevator! On the other hand we did see... More

The theatre is pretty nice and intimate. We really enjoyed the Shen Yun performance there. However, both by wife and I were unhappy with the uncomfortable seats in the orchestra area. Perhaps the cushions are worn through after many years of accommodating patrons.

We liked the atmosphere. The seats are very small and not much leg room. The bathrooms on the balcony floor are the tiniest I have ever seen.

SAT night show of Shen Yun, beautiful Chinese production. Theater located Kimmel, Academy of Music, south Broad St. area. Easy access from Broad St. subway. Ushers friendly. We had nice view seats Balcony. Very steep aisles, seat rows are painfully close in the balcony.

Husband and I went to see Shen Yun at the Merriam. The Merriam is an old theater, ornate in the style of its day. As we have seen many shows at the Academy of Music, I had no qualms with getting seats in the balcony, row D on the aisle. WRONG!! Bad choice!! Worse seats ever!!!Shen Yun was a beautiful... More

Went here last night to see iluminate, and it was spectacular! The theater is beautiful with all the ornate fixtures, intricate detailing, and stunning chandeliers. Also, due to the size of the theater I feel there isn't a bad seat in the house. iluminate was discovered on America's Got Talent in 2011, and has been going strong ever since. The... More

This theater is older and it shows in some places. For example, the bathrooms on the balcony level are obscenely small, and you have to navigate an old, narrow corridor to get there. The elevators are located by the bathrooms and just look and sound old. We stuck to the stairs, although be forewarned that it's a long, steep climb... More
