We received a gift from friends for a private tour of this unique museum. Though knowledgeable about the Impressionists, we learned a great deal more during the 1.3 hour tour conducted by our fantastic tour guide, Cynthia. She was a font of insight into the nuances of Dr. Barnes, his intention and vision for the foundation and distinguishing the artistic... More

The Barnes Foundation was originally housed in its owner's home in Lower Merion on the Main Line. You can learn all about the campaign to keep the art in Lower Merion in a documentary film. It was in a beautiful home, but it was difficult to get out there and also to get tickets unless you planned well in advance.... More

The museum is fantastic. Barnes had great taste, and we are the beneficiaries! Be ready to wait to get in.

Been here multiple times with friends, children, and for business. Very impressive in each situation. I also toured the original Barnes before it moved and I am blown away by how they maintained the original ambience and presentation of the art. Well worth the visit. Business lunch and a dinner presentation were run well. Was there with my toddler another... More

The Barnes Collection is one of a kind, with a rich history and an impressive variety of art. There is something for everyone to see, from plenty of Impressionist and modern art paintings to exotic sculptures, jewelry and objects from around the world. The building itself features rich materials, and the contents of the museum are arranged in the same... More

The Barnes is my favorite art museum. I have been there many times. This breathtaking collection consists of 181 Renoirs, 69 Cézannes and 59 Matisses. It also has works by Manet, Degas, Seurat, Prendergrast, Titian and Picasso — one of the world’s largest collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. It's best to make a reservation especially on weekends and holidays.... More

I had the pleasure of visiting the Barnes Foundation when it was on the Mainline on Dr. Barnes estate. Due to the extremely limited hours of operation, it was a challenge to get an answer on the phone, a challenge to get tickets and a challenge to fit the available times into multiple schedules BUT well worth it in the... I headed down to Philadelphia to (finally) see the Barnes Foundation Museum Gallery. What a wonderful collection they have there, even better, I thought, then advertised. It is housed in a beautiful, comfortable, modern building that is simply, but nicely landscaped. It sits right across from the Free Library just down from the Rodin Museum, and about three blocks from... More
