This has always been a beautiful view in Phila, not at all improved by the addition of lights which outline the buildings. If the notable architects who designed the boathouses thought that they should have the lighting, they would have put that into their plans. Buildings look good at night often because of the view of the light coming from... More

Invited by a friend to watch the July 4th fireworks along the pier. It was more of a picnic with hot dogs and lots of meat on the grill We had a fantastic time from noon to almost midnight when the fireworks started. Philly should start the fireworks early because the kids can not stay up so late.

We were at Boathouse Row on a tour then were across the water (as in the photo) at night. The lights were on and it was beautiful. It made a wonderful view. Unfortunately we were with many other people. I wish we had more time to explore that partiular area. It looked interesting (for adults)

Located just to the rear of The Art Museum, along the Schuylkill river. "The River of Champions " to members of Boathouse Row crew houses, this provides a wonderful river side walk. Though you can get excellent but limited views of each house, only members are granted entrance. Boathouse Row has been made famous in paintings and photos and is... More

It's a 5k walk from Boathouse Row to the grandstand where the statue of John B. Kelly is located. Worth the walk to see the amazing views, trees, and take in the rowers. Try and avoid weekend peak times for exercise or go early/later. The houses are illuminated on the downriver side, so if you want to see them 'on'... More

Boathouse Row is located a 10min walk north of the Philly Art Museum. The area overall is cute and quite idyllic next to the river. If you happen to be around, go - but otherwise it may not be worth your travel time. When we were there we could just see the boathouses, no visit options.

There is something so relaxing about seeing this from the drives or expressway with the center of Philadelphia in the background. On the "back side" of the buildings you'll see joggers, bikers and all sorts of people. You might even see the boat houses in full activity. It's a wonderful place for a walk or jog.

We saw this from our bus ride and it is simply a throw back to old times. Not sure if you can get there other than by sightseeing bus. A Kodak Moment
