Minutes from Center City, Fort Mifflin is one of the country's only...

Minutes from Center City, Fort Mifflin is one of the country's only completely intact Revolutionary War battlefields. Site of the greatest bombardment of the American Revolution, the Fort was reconstructed beginning in the late 18th century and in use until decommissioning in 1954. Fort Mifflin answered every call to service: garrisoned for the War of 1812, a federal prison during the Civil War and a munitions depot in the 20th century.

Living history events including tactical battle demonstrations and interactive activities bring the Fort's incredible term of service to life.

Riverfront picnic area, nature trail. Scout camping, paranormal investigations and programs, school and group tours year-round!

Open to the General Public March 1 through December 15 Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 AM till 4 PM. Mondays and Tuesdays and the rest of the year by chance or appointment - give us a call at 215-685-4167 prior to your visit during that time.

We love Fort Mifflin. It is great for families or couples or friends. You learn a lot about history. If you like to ghost hunt, they offer many programs for all levels of experience. The grounds are truly haunted. The best part is that you can feel safe about being your kids to this type of paranormal event. It good... More

Full of history and a great way to spend an afternoon. WWl re-enactors on the day we went, they were all very knowledgeable. Great view of the Delaware River.

Our boy scout troop went on a reenactment day and experienced the entire flare and battle reenactment that they all enjoyed and talked about the whole way home. Many of the buildings have been restored and the actors were true to their character and kept the role up throughout the day and after the battle for pictures.

We knew nothing about this fort until the day before we visited it. We had a short time to do something else around Philadelphia, and didn't want to deal with traffic to go back into the city. We found a listing for Fort Mifflin and decided to go see it. It is a fascinating piece of US history that we... More

Went for a reenactment of the siege. Very cool, local historical spot. Not on the mainstream tourist path. Views of River and City were terrific. Lots to learn!

Very interesting history with this fort, having survived the Revolutionary and Civil wars and used for various purposes for both World Wars. It looks like they are working to keep it maintained and it gives a glance into the past. Once you pay to enter, you are free to walk the grounds and enter any of the buildings that are... More

Fort mufflin is located near the old international airport. On your way to UPS and hog island area. It was always a kool spot to take a date and watch the planes take off. And it still is. Today was pirate day. A reenactment of a pirate siege in the area. Arrrr. A really kool place if you like this... More

Visited with my wife and our toddler daughter. Had a great time. Enjoyed the living history exhibition. We came for siege day 2015, and returned for pirate day 2016. We will be back for siege day this year.

I took three boys (ages 9,10, and 11) here today for a short visit. We were the only ones there in the beginning and took a tour with a costumed guide. He was great with the kids, kept the information interesting and brief enough for their attention spans, and they loved walking in the casements, using flashlights, and on the... More

On a hot, humid day, friends and myself decided to see what happened at Fort Mifflin during the Civil War. Today, they had re-enactments such as recruiting; what the newly signed soldiers had to learn with uniforms that were mismatched in sizes, learning the drills, etc. Then the raising of the huge flag, with everyone pitching in holding the flag...
