My wife and I visited Philadelphia this past weekend and enjoyed two different walking tours with Context while we were there. Philadelphia has so much history, and with more public art on display than any other city in the world outside Paris, it was extremely helpful to have someone walk us through it all! We enjoyed the first tour, Philadelphia... More

This was my second tour with Context Travel, the first in Philly. Context Travel tours are just the kind of deep experience I love when I travel. Their tours appeal to guests who want a connection with the culture in the city they are visiting and the opportunity to learn more. They keep the tours small, with no more than... More

I recently took the "Colonial City in Context" tour, the third tour I have taken with Context, but the first in Philadelphia. Tours with Context are different, and better, than other tours. The guides are extremely well-prepared, and the groups are small. The guide this time had visual aids for us, so that when she quoted the original document, she... More

We did 3 tours with Context this past Memorial Day weekend. 1. Barnes Foundation. This was my second trip to the Barnes but first time with Context. I used a foundation guide the first time. Both tours were fine but Context guide Mathew was superior because you didn't just get the party line. We really got an art history lesson... More

There really is nothing like having an intellectual cultural walk framed as a bar crawl. Yes, I had three pints of beer while winding my way through the back alleys of NoLib with a group of twenty very jolly men who were led on a four hour tour of brew lore by an angelic guide. With stops like Kraftwork, Frankford... More

My wife and I spent a very inspiring three hours walking around the Old City with Tim Hayburn on the Franklin Seminar. He described what Benjamin Franklin had done in various spots as well as describing the socio-political environment in which he was living. We had a terrific time and would highly recommend this tour specifically and Context Tours overall.

Our guide was exceptional...deeply versed in colonial material culture, enormously empathetic to a variety of historical actors, and an extraordinary conversationalist. In another job she supervises other guides and docents.....and that breadth of experience showed. We initially asked for a modification in the starting time and then had to change the day itself.....and were always told "no problem"; overall, very... More

A trip to Philadelphia is not complete unless you visit the old city. It is not just dead white guys with Context Travel. Justine walked us through telling us stories about the Founding Fathers, their way of life, their sacrifices, and their exceptualism. You live and breathe the history. If Context is available, they are the ONLY ones I will... More
