I spent several hours here on a recent chilly Saturday afternoon with family members. Starting at the top as advised, we viewed/heard the vast history of Jews in (mostly)America from past to present. We all learned something from this visit, though I think that additional visits would be warranted in order to cover everything there was to see. We were... More

I was disappointed in the museum. It tries to do too much. The rooms have exhibits, video recordings, audio recordings all going on at once and for me I was overwhelmed. Maybe there were some interesting things but I couldn't really focus on anything very well.

I really enjoyed the comprehensive historical exhibition of the American Jewish people. Not being American, I had no idea of their migration to the United States, nor their influence as early as the 1600s. I'm really glad I went.

This musem is a wonderful way to learn how Jews migrated to America and their impact on American culture. As an American Jew, I have visited this museum 3 times and always find it lacking. I have gone for the first time with a friend who is not well versed in the history of Jews in American and he found... More

We were there during the off peak tourist season, so we were free to spend uninterrupted time reading all of the displays and viewing all of the videos. We spent a full day in the museum and we had lunch at its café. This is a wonderful site to add to ones education about the roll of our Jewish citizens.

This extremely well laid out, flowing museum caused us to cancel the rest of our plans for the afternoon. We were enthralled by the span of American history it displayed, interweaving the immigrant Jewish experience in each century. Knowledgeable docents were at various points along the pathways to enrich our understanding of the events displayed. The child-friendly interactive displays beckoned... More

This is a solid museum, and I learned some new things. However, much is redundant if you already know a lot about the general immigrant experience in the United States. I would have liked more information about what made the Jewish experience so unique. I would also have liked a bit more "back story" about the situations they fled in... More

Interesting and informative museum whether you are Jewish or not. It chronicles the arrival of the first Jewish arrivals to America in 1654 and the outstanding contributions that Jewish individuals have made to America since that time. I learned that the principle of "Religious Freedom" that America was founded on did not always apply to "non-Christians". I especially enjoyed the... More

This is a definite must in Philadelphia! Go see the Independence Hall stuff as that is part of American history, but to get a great perspective on how much Jews in this country have contributed to the United States, go visit the National Museum of American Jewish History. This excellent museum will show how much of American history and culture... More

Ive visited this museum many times. It is never very crowded. Its worth checking out. The facility is modern. Exhibits are well organized chronologically. Every ethnic and religious group has a unique and compelling origin story about its American experience. This museum looks at the history of American jews. Museums are difficult to rate. If you have zero interest in... More
