This is by far one of my favorite places in Philly. There is a lovely little demonstration garden by the arboretum and horticultural center (where you can find parking nearby and then walk over to visit the Shofuso Japanese House, for a fee).

A beautifully-designed park that's been used for many purposes over the centuries and is well-loved today. The green lungs of Philadelphia

I lived in the Fairmount neighborhood for 2 years and came to love this park. A recent visit showed it to be cleaner and better lit (very good things) and still charming. I had lived for years next to Prospect Park before I moved here,...More

Sometime in Fairmount Park you really feel like you're not in the city. It's huge! Great place to see a concert. Great place to just bring a hammock and lie around. Great place to go sledding. Take a walk there!

We spent a few hours walking around the parks, both east and west, with a car to get us from one point to another as this park is HUGE. We stopped to view cherry blossoms and other blossoming trees, checkout out the Shofuso Japanese House,...More

Fairmount Park is the largest urban park in the world, so it has plenty of space on both sides of the Schuylkill River, as well as great scenery, including views of the river. Many sites, including the Please Touch Museum, Shofuso Japanese House and Garden,...More

President John Adams (1735-1826) described Mount Pleasant, high on a hill in Fairmount Park overlooking the Delaware River, as the most elegant seat in Pennsylvania. As it was intended to do, the Georgian house with its classical proportions and ornate interior woodwork on the 70-acre...More

Have a great time walking around the park, especially along Kelly Drive, where boat house row is beautiful to see any time of the day or night, or along Martin Luther King Drive, which is a little more private and green. Both abound with walk...More

I have lived here most of my life and somehow did not know the historic homes offered guided tours year round and are specifically decorated for the holidays. The Philly Phlash makes special stops while the holiday tours take place. Wonderful experience. Will do it...More

My apologies these do not get pushed to me. I would not go into the park at night unless I had a group with me and only in certain sections. There are other parks in the area I would use instead.

Fairmount Park includes over 10,000 acres of park land. The best areas, in my opinion, are along the Schuylkill River (both sides) and along the Wissahickon Creek (Wissahickon Valley Park). To truly appreciate the park... More
