The Independence Visit Center is right across the street from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall and is the best place to start your trip to Philadelphia. You can find maps and brochures for all the major attractions in Philadelphia here, and even buy tickets to most of them (it is the only place to get your tickets to the... More

Independence Hall Visitor Center is user friendly for first timers in Philadelphia. At the Center, you can pay to park your car (in attached garage with elevator), purchase tickets (for Hop On-Hop Off Tour Buses) , pick up maps & brochures, buy drinks and snacks, and use clean bathroom facilities. Note: If you want to see the inside of Independence... More

No tickets - no tour. You have been warned! There was also a useful exhibition about the battle against slavery. If you are... More

Good starting point for your Independence Historical Park visit. The NPS souvenir shops, however, are located next to Independence Hall, not at the visitor center. Parking, bathroom, and hall tickets are located here.

The map we received here was invaluable for our entire stay, we could get great advice, pamphlets, and decide on our courses of action, it was air conditioned, there were always neat story times or musical interludes with a historical bent. There was wifi and clean toilets and a souvenir shop. It was a one stop planning spot! This is... More

I stopped by the ranger desk and was given a plethora of suggestions on things to do, tips, tickets and ideas. Also a suggest itinerary that was opposite to what everyone else does, so I could beat the crowds.

If this is your first time in Philadelphia, and you haven't done much prior research re. "What to see in Philly" (and even if you have done your "homework") this should be your first stop. You may purchase most, if not all, of your tickets for entry into the various landmark and/or historical sites, public transportation tickets and pick up... More
