Spent an afternoon/evening bopping around Chinatown last weekend. As usual, it was bustling. We had a nice dinner at Heng Feng Hand Drawn Noodles and then soft serve ice cream at Matcha Panda. In between, we popped in and out of shops. There are signs on walls and flyers on poles about stopping the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team from building a new arena a block away from Chinatown. Between the Pennsylvania Convention Center on the west, I-676 on the north and the Fashion District Mall on the south, Chinatown is already boxed in.

Nothing much to see there. Better go to San Francisco Chinatown. We just drove around and didn’t even stopped in any place.
Maybe there are some good restaurants but we didn’t look for any.

Like other Chinatowns in the United States, Philadelphia's Chinese enclave is close to city center. It is still a thriving community full of ethnic eateries and neighborhood shops. Surprisingly clean too. Can drop by when around.

A buzzing vibe and great restaurants to eat at. A very well located near city attractions, it is certainly walkable and many of the restaurants open until late.
We ate at 2 different places and bought snacks and bubble tea in others. The area is safe, well lit and charming. K-pop merch stores available and other giftshops too.

This Chinatown is located centrally near Center City. I used to live in Philly, and while this Chinatown is smaller than say NYC or SF, there are plenty of great eats. One huge plus it has over NYC or SF is that it doesn’t get deserted at night - in fact, it is known for late night eats compared to many other parts of the city.

The Chinatown in Philadelphia is much smaller than New York but larger than DC and Boston. The place has no place to expand but is loaded with great restaurants and interesting shops. There are Dim Sum palaces, sit down restaurants and bakeries.

It is fun to just walk around the neighborhood sampling all the take out places and restaurants and sampling all the cuisines.

It is a nice way to spend the afternoon and evening.

There are like 1 million restaurants in Philadelphia and you have an endless amount of Asian cuisine options in Chinatown. It’s a very busy area. My friend and I took a picture near the Friendship Gate. I think the mall was close to this area as well.

Chinatown in Philly is ok. A lot of tourist spots rather than authentic shops. Did stop by one restaurant for quick bite and it was good. Definitely a lot of tourists.

Compared to several Chinatowns that I have been to in Canada and US, I would say that this is my new favorite. It is close enough for those of us in DC area to visit and it has a clean and neighborhood feel to it. The newer restaurants and shops are mixed in with the older buildings. It seems to be growing which is a good sign. Definitely go visit if you like Chinese food and culture and enjoy exploring.
