Independence Hall is something you do have to see and they offer free tours on the 1/2 hour. The tour is not long but interesting. However, you must pick up your free tickets at the visitors center that morning. The center opened at 8:30 the day I was there (a Friday)- I got there at 8:20 and there were 25-30... More

There were many disappointed people around us. Go to the National Park Service website and for $1.50 you can book your ticket ahead of time. Otherwise, you'll have to go around 8am the day of to get a timed ticket. If you book ahead you just need to go an hour ahead of time to visitor's center to pick up... More

My nephew is in 8th grade and visiting for a week. We took him to Independence Hall to hear about the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. He loved hearing about George Washington and seeing the old buildings. He's at that age where he's retaining more historical information and had plenty of questions. If they are leading tours of large groups,... More

It's hard to feel more American pride than you do while at Independence Hall. The formation of our great country took place within these very walls. It's a moving experience to walk in the same foot steps.

Nice to see history preserved. Got there early and right into the tours on a weekday. The tours are short but you stand for most of it. Kids enjoy the tour.

If you are visiting Philly, start here. Even when things are closed up, you can still view the Liberty Bell and read about many other things at the displays in the area.

When you enter the place you walk by several clusters full of information about the history of the Nation, the history of the Bell and its meaning to the Nation. The bell is well guarded but you can still take pictures close to it
