Perfect stop for self-packed lunch while crossing Death Valley. The kids will love exploring the salt flats in the valley and the adults can enjoy a peaceful lunch spot. Mustard Canyon (adjacent) lives up to its name and is a hidden route via automobile from...More

Several interesting things to see here! The pedestal-signs along the walkway were very informative & the entire concept of borax mining in Death Valley was very interesting to me. This is a quick, easy stop near Furnace Creek Visitor Center.

Really awesome stop to read upon and view what was once the mining operation of borax. There are rusty remains of wagons, tanks, piping and machinery dating back 120 years. An easy spot to visit and worth the time.

It's a good quick stop for a short walk, about 1/4 mile, to look through this. It's interesting if you are into history of industry and mining in California. There is no toilet facility at this location.

A short walk around the borax works and you see some of the old workings and an example of the 20 mule team "train" used to transport the borax to the nearest rail head. What struck me most was the fact that men would/could actually...More

This is a great reminder that PEOPLE actually lived and worked in such a severe environment. It is neat to see the old wagons and ruins.
