Local poet purchased a home for his mother and eventually became the Paul Laurence Dunbar house and museum. He wrote in dialect and I always found his work interesting. One of the few writers of the time that could make a living off his talented...More

Enriching experience learning about a significant author. Consider watching the short film first to fully appreciate his talent and contribution. The home is beautiful and the ranger did an excellent job of bringing us back in time.

Takes only about an hour to see everything. Very fascinating history that not many people know. Definitely go on a day when there is a ranger there so you can get the tour of his house. It's a very neat exhibit.

We have been to Paul Lawerence DUNBAR'S house several times. The grandkids get the biggest joy from viewing the bathroom. It has period fixtures. Very entertaining!!

The House is well preserved and interesting. More interesting is the history about Dunbar and his family. Dunbar played an important part in history, establishing African-American writers. Didn't know that this is part of the National Parks System.

We didn't know much about Dunbar before visiting Dayton, only what we'd read about his connection to the Wright brothers. But we learned a lot visiting this beautiful home. The ranger who gave us the tour was cheerful and engaging, and every room in the...More
