Anyone with a small interest in flying needs to go here. It is not a flashy exhibit and is even a little tough to find. But it is here where aviation was nursed along by the Wright Brothers. The field where they flew after returning...More

Huffman Prairie is the site of the Wright Brothers early aircraft development. Once they had propulsion for their Wright Flyer in 1903, they no longer needed the winds of Kitty Hawk, so they relocated back home to Dayton, OH for further development. This site was...More

This is where Orville and Wilbur learned to fly. A nice, small museum provides an overview of the move to commercialize their flying machine. Several actual pieces of equipment is available to view. There's an outside memorial and you can see both parts of Wright...More

This is a small venue, about 1.5 miles from Air Force Museum, but well worth the trip. They have a 30 minute movie of the Wright brothers trials and tribulations to conquer manned flight. It is operated by the National Park Service and is very...More

The Wrights needed a reliable headwind to help get their motor powered airframe off the ground. They were told by researchers at the Smithsonian Institute that the one place that sucked enough for their needs was Kitty Hawk, NC. If you ask anyone who has...More

We were disappointed in our visit here. We didn’t expect much and got less. The simulator wasn’t working and the movie wasn’t playing. Your far better to go to the Wright Bros museum and bicycle shop on third street in Dayton

It was fantastic to visit the nation's first airport and stand on the field where the Wrights tested their first practicable aircraft. I enjoyed seeing a replica of the catapult that was used. Next to the area is a tall grass prairie nature trail which...More

The interpretive center (visitor center) and Flying Field are relatively close to each other (need to drive or bicycle). On a cold day in October, we liked the visitor center better than the field location itself (but maybe weather played some role). I would suggest...More

Its a royal pain to get to as my gps mis directed me but after a few missed approaches and some directions from a guard at the base we found it and were not disappointed.
