All work here is done by volunteers, 95% are elderly. A huge sign greets you as you park stating opening/closing Months, days and hours. All info including venue rental number. Please be respectful stay on sidewalks, treading on the landscape compresses and suffocates all plants. I feel priviledged to volunteer with such great and giving people. Thank you all and enjoy.

I've reviewed this garden before but since then I've seen a couple of poor reviews which I feel must be addressed. One, March is still winter in El Paso. Of course, there are not going to be many roses yet. The rose bushes are just being pruned at this time of year. But come early or mid April until it gets too hot, the roses are at their best. Please go back again and check them out. Two, August is one of the hottest times of the year in El Paso. Who would even think about having a wedding outside in El Paso anywhere much less in a rose garden in the hottest time of the year? Yes this is the desert and the roses have a hard time in the worst heat, but come late September and through the fall, the roses are once again magnificent. Also, the last thing the rose garden needs is pets in it. Pets like to pooh and this is definitely not the place for it, sorry. There are a few benches to sit on but unfortunately, this garden is not set up for picnics nor does it have facilities. There is just not enough space. It's more important to have lots of beautiful roses, I believe. Please take the time to visit this beautiful garden during the milder seasons when they are at their best. It's July right now and over 100 degrees, how can these roses show their colors with this kind of heat? The garden is very well taken care of by the Rose Society, the El Paso Master Gardeners and the city but expect trash during the windy season and brown leaves during the heat of the summer. The garden is of medium size and if you are a rose lover, you can spend an hour or two enjoying it.

This place is a must see when the roses are full bloom. The smell is appealing and the view spectacular with so many different kinds of roses. It's a special place.

The gate was open with no signs saying closed but we were rudely informed by a worker the place was closed. The flowers looked all dead. Maybe we were just there at the wrong time but there should have been signage saying it was closed.

Being a rosarian and having my own rose garden in El Paso with 32 rose bushes, the municipal rose garden is a place I would really recommend. I would stress that the best time to go is in March or April when it is still cool and the roses are at their peak. One reviewer said "being EP it's a little run down like everything else". She was being very uncharitable and judging EP with a jaundiced eye. With that attitude, I'm not surprised that she isn't taken to better places. We are in the desert, so you have to be realistic. In May the weather will be cool and pretty one day, and over-night, triple digit heat will hit and kill everything that is living, so to best appreciate the effort of growing roses, go in the spring or fall. El Paso is one of the best places to grow roses, as many areas are very sandy, which many roses like. I live in an area which used to be sand dunes, so growing roses is very easy. The drive here is easy. If on the eastside, drive 1-10 west. On the way, get off on the Copia exit and go up Copia going north. You will pass a train trestle and an elementary school on a big hill. The rose garden is on the right.

First it's free to get in and free parking so that's awesome! It's fairly conveniently located. Absolutely beautiful gardens. Would be a great place for a wedding or event. Be aware that a train does go by with some frequency so if that would ruin your event...

I appreciate the effort that resulted in this garden's creation. But roses, which thrive in England, in the desert????

Beautiful rose garden, and a great place to take you love to stroll around, or as an educational trip for older kids. And best of all - it's free!

On Friday I visited the El Paso Municipal Rose Garden for the second time in my life and I have lived in El Paso 50 plus years. It is maintained by both the city of El Paso and the Master Gardeners of El Paso. It is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. It is open from March 1st thru October 31st and closed to the public over the winter season. Every day you will find the friendliest most informative people working there. It is truly a treasure in our midst and if you just need a bit of calm time in our hectic world it will fill the bill.

Are there grassy picnic areas or are you only allowed to sit on the benches?
Written 30 August 2016
No grassy areas inside the garden just walking paths and some benches throughout. There is a baseball field across the parking lot and grassy area a bit further down.

May is bEttore. El Paso has a lot of wind and sand storms in March and April. I lived there last year from FEB to OCT. We bought a house in Florida instead of El Paso. Hope this helps. Have a good day
