Neighbourhood: Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.

Wonderful place to hear a concert, especially around the holidays. Right in the middle of Greenwich Village, this Italian church looks amazing inside.

We visited West Village and came up to the door of this Church, so we decided to get in. The architecture and interior are not rivaling St Patrick and other iconic Churches and Cathedrals, but nonetheless this place has an enchanting aura and a very unique flavor as a Temple. It is simple but beautiful. If you go to West Village, I advise to stop by and visit this Church

We went to mass here and it was sad to see so few people in attendance. It is a beautiful old church with nice painting and windows.

This beautiful church is located at the intersection of Carmine and Bleeker, and its off center tower is designed to look great from Father Demo Square. Which it does.

Still very active with some services in Italian. The building is beautifully decorated -- generally -- very peaceful and a great escape from the busy West Village.

But, oh my goodness, it has some of the ugliest statues ever.

Well worth a visit for beauty and peace even if you are not religious.

The interior of this church is to me one of the most pleasing the eye in the City. You see the Italian touch everywhere: in the mosaics on the walls, in the beautiful paintings of the Dome, in the elegant altar and the gracious marble floors.
This parish has been in Greenwich village since 1892 and has always had special interest in Italians, Italian immigrants and their successful integration in society.
The outside is gray and unimpressive but go inside and you'll enjoy stained glass and woodwork and frescoes galore. It's in the Village, on Carmine, right off Bleecker St.
