Neighbourhood: Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.

    Humbling Experience
Gary Suson has brought together a collection of images and artifacts from 9/11 that leave you speechless. He narrates from his own personal experience and was hands on during our tour. A solemn reminder of how fragile life can be. It’s a must!

    Just WOW
I have been dreaming about visiting NYC my whole life, and especially I have been dreaming about visiting Ground zero and the 9/11 museum. I have been so fascinated by the event since I was a little girl. I mostly wanted to visit a more “intimate” museum with smaller artifacts. Therefore I was so sad when I found out the tribute museum closed down. So when I coincidentally found the website of the 9/11 workshop I booked it immediately. We got to get the tour by the owner and photogropher begynd the photos Gary. And the experienced exceeded all expectations. It was absolutely incredible. So so so many small fantastic artifacts and amazing photohraphs and stories told by Gary. This visit was of the biggest experiences of my life. Thank you Gary. Mia & Andreas

    super experience
9/11 Museum Workshop was so unlike any museum experience I’ve had. I have been to many museums in Amsterdam and Paris however this museum falls into its own category. You have to go there and experience it to fully understand. However, I walked away feeling as though I had experienced what it was like to work at the world trade center after the September 11 attacks. The audio guide narration by the official Photographer is so heartfelt, along with the sound effects, that I could truly feel the emotions of being there. I am happy I was given the recommendation to visit here. I will carry this experience, the sights sounds and stories for the rest of my life.

Emotional, unique and personal account of the recovery efforts at Ground Zero - educational and impressive for all ages!
What a special, unique and intimate experience! We took our 9 year old son who we had talked to about the events of this day. Visiting this workshop put faces, personalities and names to the facts - not only for our son, but also for us. The pictures, artifacts and first-hand account of the only photographer who was allowed at the site puts the spotlight on the recovery efforts and the brave men and women who put their own lives in danger (and made the ultimate sacrifice years after their work at Ground Zero) to give the families of the victims some form of peace. Several stories stuck in my head and forever changed me. We got to meet Gary Suson in person and are amazed by his passion and commitment to sharing the things he saw, experienced and which undoubtedly stay with him until this day. The stories he shares through the self-guided audio tour by telling them himself are full of emotion and left an impact on all of us. Thank you Gary, we really appreciate your time and effort to make this experience as personal as it gets.

A highly memorable, poignant and educational experience
Definitely the most memorable and poignant part of our trip to NYC. Our guide was the photographer, Gary Suson, which gave a unique insight into the 9/11 tragedy and subsequent aftermath. The tour was pitched perfectly for our children aged 10 & 12 with a very insightful and succinct audio tour. To be able to hold actual ground zero artefacts was both a unique and thought provoking experience.

A poignant and moving experience that offers a very different perspective on the disaster. I didn’t have time to listen to all the stories and would like to visit again.

This is my & my husband's forth visit to the workshop. When each of our kids turns 13 we bring them to NYC and this museum is always first on the list of stops to make. This collection is heartfelt, personal and impactful! There are other places we could take our children to remember what happened on 911. But, no other place can show you how the city and the country came together to rebuild hearts and hope.

It was great. This was my second time attending but my partners first time. It was just as good a second time round. Very moving and well told from a different point of view to the memorial museum on ground zero.

I'm so glad I made the time to visit the 9/11 Museum Workshop. Gary Suson was a young photographer at the time of the tragic events and he was given access to record the recovery efforts in the months that followed. Gary has many of these photographs and some artefacts on display in a studio room in Manhattan, and visitors are given a headset to listen to him narrate the stories of recovery. It's all extremely well put together and my experience at this Museum will stay with me for a long time.

It is a very personal experience, very different from the usual museums. It was difficult to control my own emotions, tears ran down my face several times. I highly recommend this workshop!

This was the most amazing museum I have ever visited in my life . Not about size at all , very small but packed with so much history .

It truly is so sad but so important to visit and pay your respect in a way.

We had the good fortune to be hosted by the actual photographer of 911 site .

I highly recommend this little museum while in nyc .

So well done and respectful to lives lost on that terrible day .

I have had this on my list of places to see for a couple of years and it finally worked out (I'm from NC). It did not disappoint. I was so moved by the photos and narration that Gary Suson (official Ground Zero photographer) recorded for each photo and artifact. I shed tears. He has a way with words and photos and I could feel the emotion. It was powerful.

We visited this museum at the end of June 2023. This was a family hit for us. We spent 3+ hours at this museum and the last person to exit was my 16 year old son. When he left we talked about the experience for hours after the fact. He told me that he learned more in that 3 hour experience than he had in all of school. He had so many questions for us and my husband and I had lived through 911. This was an incredible experience for all of us and Gary was a pleasure to talk to afterwards. This is definitely a hidden NYC treasure and I am so glad we were able to experience it.

The normal guide was injured right before the tour and Gary Suson himself showed up to give us the tour. This is my 3rd visit to see this amazing place and I have always enjoyed it. This is the best 9/11 museum I can explain to you. This is more than just about the tragic day so many of us remember. This is about healing and brotherhood. If you get the chance do not miss this.
