It's always interesting walking around Lower Manhatten. There's just a different vibe in this place compared to the rest of NY. It's hard to explain. Experience it for yourself. There's so much to see, hear, feel and eat. Be prepared for a lot of walking though! But this is NY, you should already know that.

There are many places to visit in Lower Manhattan. The newly built World Trade area with the 9/11 Memorial and museum is Central. Battery Park on the waterfront provides views of the Statue of Liberty. From here you can take a ferry to the Statue or to Ellis Island.

There is so much to see in this area. Be prepared for plenty of walking. Before you go, plan out the places you want to visit. There are plenty of places to see. This could be a full day visit by the time that you visit paces and have lunch or a snack at one of the many places.

Lower Manhattan offers much to see, Ellis Island Immigration, South Street Seaport in addition to the two places mentioned in the title. Plenty of tourist info booths around, and very walkable day or night. Fair variety of restaurants to be found for food and rest.

Loved the Memorial Plaza and being able to see the Fearless Girl Statue! Don't miss Alexander Hamilton's grave and watch the Wall St. traders come and go!

This is old NY at its best: see the Stock Exchange, Alexander Hamilton's grave at Trinity Church, rub the bull's testicle's (yes!!), visit the Seaport, and meander the small shady streets, all with stunning views of the Freedom Tower. It is safe, clean, and easy to get around. A favorite free activity: walk across the Brooklyn Bridge for outstanding views... More

Staying in SoHo

Neighbourhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
