Personally I think the Top of the Rock offers the best citywide views and it's quite a stunner to view the Empire State Building in ALL it's splendor as you look south. Truly worth the trip.

We left our hotel around 8am after breakfast and headed straight to the Rockefeller Centre, I think most people must have still been in bed as we had the place all to ourselves!! Our own lift to the top and the viewing area also just for us : ) Stunning view last of NYC and Central Park, also you get... More

Bad luck that the visibility was zero due to fog when we went up there. But good on the staff they warned us before we could even redeem our citypass that there is zero visibility and to come back another day. But we still went up there as it was the last day of our trip. We went up and... More

What a view! The weather wasn't perfect but good enough to see the fantastic view.It was amazing to see all the other icons from this awesome building! Even though the weather was not ideal, it was still worth the view and a look around this icon as well!

The only bad thing was having to put up with rude people in the line. But the sights were fabulous... Retrieving photos after was inconvenient. We didn't end up getting a photo after because rude people cut the line and the wait was long.

definitely a must if you want good views and pics of the City at night. The view from Top of the rock at night is much better than the view on top of the empire state building at night, Its a much clearer view. I recommend you wrap up warm if you go at night as it's a bit cold... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
