I could not have thought of a more fitting title!! I happen to enjoy Italy and pizza and cannolis and mob movies!! It is all very fancy but I have no money to be going to Italy!! I went to this market today because I wanted to look at it!! It had a ton of stores but I didn’t buy anything!! It also had some interesting novelty pictures which I will add to my collection of weird things I’ve seen!! The stores had pastas and sauce and cannolis and pizza but there was no mobsters which was good for me!!

I picked up some pizza and meatballs from here for my friends and I. We loved both. The service was great. The pizza was NY thin and extremely good. Would go again.

The Arthur Avenue Retail Market is an old world Italian market with traditional butchers, grocery and fruit areas that remind you of the old country. The old scales and piles of bits and fruit brought back memories.

And was not disappointed. For those who enjoy there were 2 cigar rollers on site. Could get some good smokes. Fruits, vegetables all around. Great sandwiches.

There are many italian food stores in around NYC that one can visit. Everything from Eataly to a small local store in your town or neighborhood. But there's really no place that has feel, variety and energy of the Arthur Avenue Retail Market. This is a place that if you visit - you will buy something because the foods are that enticing! And once you're done, you can then visit one of the many wonderful restaurants in the Little Italy of the Bronx (i.e. what we used to just refer to as Arthur Ave.) that are right outside the door.

Visited Arthur ave for the first time. Just casually walked into this butcher shop and was surprised. I felt that I walked back into another era! They have just about anything you can imagine. Butchers who are friendly, very knowledgeable and a delight to chat with. I bought some meats and was so impressed with the quality that I have become a regular. They deliver to my home! Wonderful!!

This place has just about everything you need in specialty food. Meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, and hand rolled cigars await. We walked through and didn’t get anything to eat but it sure was tempting! If you are on Arthur Ave you must visit the Retail Market.

From cigar rolling to gelato, there is a little of everything here. Some tables are provided for a quick meal or snack.

Come hungry - lots of fresh foods! Loved seeing the cigars handmade. If you go during the week, street parking is not a problem (at least it wasnt for us) and not too hard to find.

Best way to travel from Times Square to Arthur's avenue market?

There are a variety of ways to go.
1. As the previous poster said, you can take Metro North from Grand Central Station to the Fordham Road and walk.
Grand Central is the S subway line from Times Square, heading east. Arthur Avenue is just off Fordham Road East.
2. You can take the subway the whole way. Take the 1, 2, or 3 train north from Times Square to 59th Street. Change to the D line to Fordham Road. This is the cheapest way.
3. Take an Uber or a taxi. Should be $30 USD each way. Good choice if you are a small group or have young kids.
