It was our last day but as we had a late flight home we had time to tick another NYC attraction off my bucket list. We forgot our metrocards so paid $3 each each way. Great views both ways and lots of photo opportunities of manhatten. The island is nice for a walk. Get shots of the UN building and... More

We took the tram over and didn't really expect much because I hadn't read up on the island. We were very pleasantly surprised by the park. It was nice to get away from the crowds in NYC and just walk through a quiet park for an hour. The views of Manhattan were great. I really enjoyed the FDR monument.

We walked from the south end of Central Park to the tram stop (cable car) and used our metro card to get across To our surprise it was a free ride as we had just used our card to get Central Park The cable car was packed but we still had good views down the river. When we got off... More

Getting to Roosevelt Island could not be simpler — just take the tram using your MTA card at 60th Street and 2nd Avenue. It's a short trip across the river to the island (you can also take the F train). Enjoy the nice view. The walk to Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park is short and provides some wonderful views across... More

Considering how close this is to 2 of the boroughs and easy to get to, it doesn't feel like it has many visitors, so you can enjoy some chill out time here away from the hustle and bustle. There's a bit of a high street, a few eateries, lots of park land, and you can do a whole lap in... More

The Roosevelt Island is located between Manhattan and Queens and does not have many tourist attractions, being an average residential neighborhood. The best part of the visit would be a cable car ride over the river. A brisk walk to view Manhattan skyline (East side) and to take a picture would do the trick. The FDR park is small and... More

Roosevelt Island lies in the middle of the East River, under the Queensboro (59th St.) Bridge. Its major features are the crumbling ruins of a smallpox hospital, the FDR Four Freedoms Park, the aerial tram that gets you there for the cost of a subway ride, and, oh yes, the incredible views of the eastern side of Manhattan from the... I visited NYC for a week in October for the first time, with my boyfriend. We did lots of research beforehand and I discovered that Roosevelt Island housed the ruins of a smallpox hospital (this sort of thing appeals to me)! We took the tram over (highly recommended and included on the metrocard). My tip is that turning left out... More

If you come visit New York City at May,then you have to come here for the cherry blossom. Cherry blossom in NYC is stunning which is very different from my country.
