The number of handicapped parking spaces was reduced from approx 40 down to 6.
Additionally, inside the venue, potential tripping hazards, which had previously been marked are no longer indicated. Specifically, each bump and raised area underneath the carpeting due to the network of electric cables that run below the carpeting, used to be indicated with colored tape. During my last visit 2/2/2020, it was no longer being done.

It’s a large space so wear comfortable shoes. The food and drinks for sale at the convention center are ridiculously expensive, it’s best to bring something or leave the center and eat out. If you are a vendor working a table at an event maybe a food delivery service can meet you at the entrance. It’s very expensive.

Went to see the armory art show. Lots and lots of modern and contemporary art - most pretty unremarkable and/or downright silly - but that was what I expected
Tickets were the usual overpriced NYC variety...but to buy an online ticket sent by e-mail and "storable" in my Apple wallet each cost a $6 service charge. If that was not outrageous enough, upon entry our pocket sized 4 ounce dry umbrella sI was told needed to be checked - $4 to check each umbrella - outrageous, and insulting. So the senior citizen $35 ticket with service charge, tax, and umbrella fee was $49.

We attending New York Comic Con 2022 here and found it so easy to get to. There is the NY Waterway Ferry right behind the building, a Subway (the number 7) up the street a bit, a number of busses went by while we were there, and the Mega Bus has a pick up and drop off spot as well.
The Javit's is walking distance to a number of restaurants and shopping areas. We found that it was great to leave during the day and then come back later on.
Inside the Javit's, it is a big conference hall. There seems to be a number of different size rooms you can use depending how big your conference is.
Overall, easy to get to, easy to get to places nearby and easy to walk around inside.

Pretty standard convention center. Convenient to subway. Good place for a convention. Pretty much nowhere to sit to take a break, found one spot on the second (main) floor near stairs to third floor where you can sit in the window.

This is Manhattan's big convention center. It used to be isolated in a semi-industrial area, but with the development of Hudson Yards and the new subway station, it is now better unified with the rest of the city. The big convention center.

This is a convention hall on the West Side of Manhattan around 35th Street and 11th Avenue. Very close to the 34th Q train stop. Right near Hudson Yards development complex. Normally, it has food and boat shows among other conventions. Right now, it is being used as a COVID vaccine post. Great place to get the vaccine. Large, airy, and very well organized by the local National Guard and other law enforcement teams. I look forward to seeing it again when it is a convention center.

Think twice before holding a large conference here. Sightlines in main room, bad. 3000 people in there and nearby bathroom has 4 stalls? Then only one exit to get back to escalators - takes forever to move crowd. Food set-up was bad (lines long and not spread out enough) and they couldn't replenish food fast enough. Not enough garbage cans. Bathrooms on meeting room floors were long walks away. Food quality was good. Nice looking building, staff was nice, meeting rooms ok (stages could be higher), nice outside area. Upstairs meeting room, with bar in the middle gets too crowded and very hard to move around.

Attending the Amma event at the Javitz Center from August 5th to 8th was a memorable experience. The facilities were impressive, especially considering the large number of attendees, ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 people each day. The restrooms were consistently clean, even during peak hours from early morning until well past midnight.
The organization and atmosphere contributed greatly to the event's success. While my visit was mainly to see Amma, the positive experience at the Javitz Center certainly added to the overall enjoyment. Thanks to the Javitz Center for hosting such an event with great efficiency and care.

This is the city's huge convention center. It used to be isolated on the far west side, but now is linked with everything else by the new Hudson Yards development. It's a practical place to hold a big convention.

Do I need to worry about pot smoke near the Javits center? If so, what times of day or areas should I avoid? (Allergic to cannabinoids)
Written 21 May 2017
I didn't notice any the day I was there. But if you should find it, the streets are wide enough to get away from it.

Are there any good restaurants near the Javits center?
Written 21 May 2017
Yes a few blocks up we ate at ESSEN (8th and 36th) near the Wyndham I believe. It had a breakfast buffet and other lunch stations, etc.
I would pick up something early in the morning for lunch there and bring it with you.
There are also nice restaurants in nearby hotels.
Thai Select looks good. And we stopped in at the Tick Tock Diner. And had drinks inside the Wyndham.
Easy Lyft or Uber ride away.

where do I park for the day in NJ to attend event at Javits
Written 6 March 2015
Many of the PATH stations have limited free parking and you can take the PATH train or ferry right over from NJ. Even if you have to pay to park on the Jersey side will save you in tolls and traffic in NYC. Ask a constable or local business to make sure you are in a no tow zone.
Enjoy!

Written 6 March 2015
Not really sure Ron, I normally do not reside in NJ. But if you did park in NJ to save on public parking fees (I presume that is your intention) how will you get across the Hudson River. I would suggest finding parking near the NJ/NY Path Train that links to the new Freedom Tower 'World or Trade Center'. Then you can take the NYC Transit train a few stops up to 34th Street and walk west towards the Jacob Javits Center.
Hope that helps Ron!
