Must see for LGBT Culture

The gay bar that started the gay rights movement. Filled with memorabilia. Grab a drink and read the writing on the wall. Or simply come here and party!

I was exploring alone in NYC for a day before I went back to DC for some business. Can I just say being from Orlando I was extremely moved by this presentation? I was near the site of the Orlando shooting that evening before and when I heard it that next morning I was completely shooken up. The amount of... More

Let me start off by wishing all of my readers a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Now this place may be historic but I almost became a piece of history waiting at the bar to order a drink. We waited outside for 20 mins which wasn't bad except for this group we had in front of us smoking weed and cigarettes how... More

Great little venue steeped in history. The actual site of the Stonewall riots in 1969 which started the whole Gay Rights Movement. Fantastic location.

Whilst this place has lots of history, which matters, it did seem dated and old fashioned (perhaps intentional?). Would not want to spend a whole evening there, much better places to visit for a fun night out.

Wow what an amazing 3 different nights My partner Andy and I had at Stonewall. besides being a icon of the LGBT movement it was just a down right friendly bar to go too. The bar staff are friendly as drinks cheap and strong and being Australian we also seem to have no problem pulling a crowd and being involved... More

The Stonewall Inn is an icon of the LGBT community. The bar is located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York. Currently, the bar has two levels, safe environment and a few photographs of the events that occurred there in the 1960s. Is a nice place to hangout and bar hoping.

If you like to step out of your element and have fun this is place to go. Met a lot of fun people and could be myself and have fun! Very welcoming atmosphere and service was busy but good! Beer is a little pricey but well worth the money!

This was just your regular dingy and cheesy gay bar. It's quite dark and over priced and doesn't really seem like the historic place you might expect.

The bar is very cosy and attracts a mixed crowd of all ages. The barmaid was very quick serving drinks which is always a plus when your thirsty. The decor and wooden interior and pleasant. Worth a visit for its history and for the buy one get one free offers on drinks.

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
