This place is an oasis. That borders the river for about 7 blocks. And is the home fir strollers, walkers, bike riders, dogs. Couples and kids. Two separate dog parks are here and a fabulous view of the east river and the fir drive. Great for sunrise Specials And with a nice breakfast there after. Free and. Delightful.

Having lived in the neighborhood I have been to this Park many many times. Highlights really all the walk on the river, and the mayors mansion. They're a little areas where dogs are allowed to play one along the Riverwalk is a small area gated so the dogs can run free and play with each other. Always worth a look.

Thing I miss most about our E89th street walk up is this park. Lovely in so many ways. Nice at night with great views of the Triboro Bridge. Take the dog for a long walk. find a spot to read a book or sit and let the kids play. There are two dog runs and free movies in the playground... More

I am lucky to live in a great apartment house on the Upper East Side, in view of the East River and only a block from the East River Waterfront Esplanade. The esplanade runs through Carl Schurz Park, and was particularly beautiful during our recent snow storm -- more ice than blizzard as it turned out. Enjoy the pictures; I... More

This park is wonderful for dog owners, kids and people that like to sit on benches and watch the world go around. It's also an essential route for anyone who wants to walk along the East River; there is no way to do so except by this route or interior streets. Always something fascinating going on.

With Central Park so close by, this park is mostly used by locals. There are 2 dog parks. One for small & one for large dogs so you are sure to see many neighbors walking their dogs. Has a great playground and lovely views along the east river. Easy walking paths are lined with gorgeous gardens maintained by local groups.... More

While on business on the upper east side, I saw a magnificent park, well manicured lawns, beautiful landscape, spotlessly clean, with areas for jogging, walking, lounging, pet walking and a view of the river that was breathtaking. I remember being amazed at how peaceful this park appeared. A great place to visit.

Really, this park is so lovely. You can go meandering around through patches of lavender and mint and other colorful and fragrant herbs. Pause and look out at the East River and any ships going by. There are at least two places for dogs to run around. I'm a bit eccentric so I sometimes bring my Bengal cat on a... More

Just across Columbia University, off Morningside Drive is this park with a varied landscape. At the main entrancee is the statue of Carl Schurz, a well known statesman who supported Lincoln and fought for civil liberties.

Thus is a beautiful park that is adjacent to the river board walk (great). This is also where the mayor is living. This is a great place to go to on a sunny day!

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
