The best marionette production I have ever seen. The story, music, acting, choreography, sets, and puppets, were impeccable. One of the highlights of NYC. Vastly underrated and under promoted. The theatre itself is enchanting. Highest recommendation.

We had a fantastic time watching 'Wake Up Daisy!' during our visit to New York with our two year old son. The marionettes and puppetry were really impressive. This is a perfect trip for little ones who can't manage a Broadway show yet and can easily be combined with exploring Central Park. We felt tickets were really good value ($12 for adults and $8 for children). We came across the theatre on a blog about visiting NYC with toddlers and are surprised it isn't featured in more widely known guidebooks!

We visited the theater and saw a great puppet show. The setting is picturesque and a great place to see a show!

The crew here is super kid friendly and very welcoming.

This is a gem of Central Park- visit for sure!

I had no idea this little theater did puppet shows. We saw "Neverland: Peter Returns" and loved everything about the performance. Take some time to walk there through Central Park, from the south end to Bethesda Terrace then over the bow bridge toward Belvedere castle (the theater is right next door).

We went to see the "Prince, Emperor and the Duck" this morning. Was great for our 2 yr old. A lot of kids well behaved watching the show, parents thought it was fun too.

What a surprising find! For the price, better entertainment will be hard to come by. With quaint surroundings, excellent sound system and phenomenal puppeteers, this is hidden gem.

We had a great time here at the theater. Mt fiance went on a school trip there earlier in the year and had a good experience. Since then, she has been receiving e-mail updates with the upcoming shows. We saw that they had a Three-Bears Holiday Show coming up and decided to get some tickets. Showtimes were 1:00 PM on Saturday and Sundays and 10:30 and 11:30 AM during the weekend from November 11th until the end of the year. Tickets were $12 for adults and $8 for children. The theater is a 5-minute walk from 79th and West Drive Central Park entrance. There are signs guiding you there. It is next to the Shakespeare Garden. We arrived a bit early at 12 PM and the doors were not open yet. We returned at 12:35 and the doors were opened. When we entered we went immediately to the right to show our tickets. There is a room to the far right which you can leave strollers. The actual theater is to the left. We entered the theater about 12:40 and many people were there. They instruct the adults to sit toward the edges of the bench seating so that the children can sit in the middle and have a good view of the stage. Most of the adults complied which is essential in having a good experience, considering the small size of the theater. There are seats in the front and a few more rows toward the rear. By the time it was 12:55 the theater was full with even a few people standing along the sides. The show was about an hour. The show itself was great. There were lots of holiday songs, mini lessons about Hannukah, Kwanza all the while the main story going. The children and adults both enjoyed it. I give the puppeteers all the credit in the world as well as production staff for putting on this type of show in the smaller, limited settings. At the end of the show they even came out and introduced themselves and gave a mini puppeteering lesson. We had a great time there at the theater and I hope to return again during some other shows. The location is also great in the park because of all the playgrounds in the park and nearby museums which the kids would love.

Perfect show for my 3 year old granddaughter. The show moved quickly and kept her attention for the whole 50 minutes. She absolutely loved Baby Bear. Educational moments too with videos explaining the origins of Hanukkah and Kwanza. Also meeting the puppeteers at the end was a treat. We look forward to attending more shows in the future.

I visited the place 4 times with my daughter, I would recommend The Christmas Show for ages 2 and up (mostly animal puppets signing), Jack and the Beanstalk for ages 3 and up, the Red Riding Hood for ages 4 and up (great modern adaptation, fun for adults as well), and the Halloweed show for noone as we found it to be very boring and complicated even for adults....Buy tickets online, $7 per person.
