I saw The Encounter at the John Golden Theater. The theater is a very classy one, that has a 1960s Broadway touch to it that I hope will be preserved forever. I was seated downstairs about 10 rows from the podium -- so good seats -- but they were really very cramped, even for my small frame. Elbows were knocked... More

Went to see Eclipsed at the Golden Theatre and unlike some of the other theaters the seating was space is normal which is luxurious by Broadway standards. I sat in the orchestra area and found it to intimate from all vantage points. Would definitely see another play in this theater.

I went to see Eclipsed on a Friday night. My friend and I had been looking forward to the play for months and wanted to see Lupita perform. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told the understudy was performing and we could get tickets for another show. I was only in town for the weekend and didn't have the luxury... More

Wonderful performances from all 5 women including Lupita Nyong'o, was not even going to see this play, but fortunately for me, was able to shift my day around and made it! So glad I did, funny, and emotional, will definitely open your eyes! Don't miss this short run show till mid June 2016. Theater is beautiful too, old deco.

I went to the Golden Theatre to see Eclipsed. The [lovely] interior was obviously built during a bygone era, before ADA was mandatory and butt widths expanded. There were an awful lot of twisty stairs to reach the mezzanine and the aisles and seats are not exactly roomy for non-slender people. However, the theatre had excellent sight-lines to the stage... Fantastic Play. Couldn't have been any better, compelling and captivating. The theater is small and intimate provided the true Broadway vibe without the glitz and glam.

We went to see the The Gin Game the day after Christmas. We sat in the rear mezzanine which was perfect. I wouldn't suggest sitting up front. Those people looked like they had a hard time seeing the show. The show was excellent. It was great seeing Cicely Tyson and James Earl Jones perform and keep an audience entertained the... More

We selected this show to see because of the veteran actors involved in it. Cicily Tyson turned 91 the day we attended the show, and James Earl Jones is 84. These two gave performances that actors half their age would be thrilled to give. "The Gin Game" tells the story of two senior citizens, who end up in a rundown... More

I have to split my review into two parts. First is for "The Gin Game" with Cicely Tyson and James Earl Jones. To think that these two veteran stage actors are still at the top of their game at 84 and nearly 91 years old is simply mind blowing. Neither Ms. Tyson or Mr. Jones missed a beat and had... More

We loved the intimacy of this theater. It was easy to grab tickets at will call and head to our seats. Cicely Tyson and James Earl Jones are two legends and their performance was amazing. I'll never forget it.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
