We started the tour with high expectations, based on what friends told us, and David met them all. David is truly passionate, extremely knowledgeable about what is going on in the art scene and behind, and explains features of the 'hood too. Two hours go by very fast, and and you fall in a world of wonder. A must-do for... More

An amazing tour of both the art galleries in Chelsea and the architecture along the way. David had all the details in his head, with stories to go along with them. Full of energy, intelligence, and creativity. I am an artist myself but my partner was just coming along for the ride. However, at the end of our stay in... More

David is GREAT. Super engaging, very friendly, quick and to the point. He will get you around to see a well planned route of galleries, interesting variety, all tied together with a theme. He loves his work and it shows. This is great way to spend two hours in NYC and take something away (he even prepared little momentos we... More

As an artist and someone with lots of background in art history, I have often felt a bit adrift visiting the Chelsea galleries (even after reading reviews etc.) Taking the 2% tour was a gift. As today's NYTimes (10/16/15) notes, " A tour of Chelsea galleries these days can be a deadening experience." Not so with David Behringer sorting through... More

My daughters 8 & 10 love art, but my son never showed any interest. David did an amazing job of inspiring my kids so much that my son asked if we could do it again next time we are in NYC. I think they talked more about David's tour then the Lion King we saw the day before. I highly... More

My husband and I took a trip to NYC this past weekend and signed up for David's 2% Gallery Tour. Let me just say, it was fantastic! We would have never had a gallery experience like this if we were wandering around Chelsea on our own. This tour is cool and fun and personal. It appeals to people who are... More

Whether or not one is a collector, appreciator, or is mildly interested in art, the 90 minute tour provides a chance to observe the Chelsea art galleries as well as the neighborhood in an engaging manner. The art highlighted by David has... More

Imagine if someone continually scanned the ever changing exhibitions in Chelsea and offered you a personal visit to the best - maybe five or six galleries at any one time. Well, that's what David does for just two or three people at a time. My wife and I found this an inspiring experience to be repeated whenever in New York.

Until our Two Percent Gallery Tour this tour this week, I found the Chelsea galleries unapproachable and uninteresting. I had been to at least 20 galleries in the past, and have never really enjoyed the experience. Now, I want to see more of David's Two Percent curated galleries. The booklet he put together is a great review and keepsake. The... More

2% Gallery Tours reignited my passion for seeing art! When I first moved to NYC (almost 20 years ago) I would often take advantage of all the galleries & museums. But after a couple of years I stopped seeing shows & exhibits. So when a friend of mine who is not even an art lover raved about the 2% I... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighbourhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
