    Must Go
OMG this play is funny and witty. This is south parks version of pythons life of Brian. My wife who is not a park fan agreed to go for me. After the play she said she had to reel in the laughter because she won’t be able to control herself. There are parts that are really really base humour for non park fans. For me it only adds.

    Great fun
Great musical. Really very dark sense of humor. A fun and unexpected story. Really enjoyed it. Theater was packed. The only criticism is that the seating is really tight on the upper level. If you are tall better enquire, where you might find a comfortable seat.

    The best musical ever made
I simply could not imagine a more perfect musical. It has the comedy, it has the satire, it has AMAZING music AND lyrics (I listen to 95% of the songs weekly), it has dark moments/humor which cleverly critique a wide range of social issues from colonialism and racism to the white savior trope and religious fanaticism. Does the musical play on stereotypes? YES, and that is the whole point of the show! It uses stereotypes to play on the audience's expectations to further drive the show's ridiculousness and absurdity. This is and will always be a divisive show, but I'd say if you meet the following criteria, you'll have a great time: - You're intelligent, can read between the lines, and decipher the meaning of jokes beyond the surface level. - You are not overly sensitive (the show offends nearly every type of person there is). - You are not overly religious. Have a blast!

    LOVED IT!!! AMAZING!!
I absolutely loved this play. It was so funny! I went with my cousin, her son (16), and my son (17). We laughed and laughed and laughed! I agree with the other reviews. You need to know what kind of person you are. If you have a hard time with jokes that make fun of others then this is NOT the play for you. It has excellent singing, dancing and comedy! I would see it again! SO MUCH FUN!

    Wonderful show
First, do not take kids! Definitely R. As bsolutely hilarious, such a great show! We sat in seats next to the exterior doors which was great at the end of the show but meant a sprint for the bathroom at intermission.

    Hilarious and irreverent!
Hilarious. Irreverent. Offensive. Well performed. All of these - and more- describe The Book of Mormon. I loved it and laughed frequently. The couple in front of us was not very amused at the content. I wasn't sure what the story line would be, but it was a very enjoyable production and certainly pushed the edges into possible offensiveness, but not for me. What else would you expect from the South Park creators? I would go and see it again, as I had a great time. The theater was pretty intimate and we ended up with better seats than we thought. If you're looking for a great Broadway musical and you've already seen Spamalot (my all-time favorite, and it's not even close), this is a worthy ticket to find!

This play has excellent production value and the actors are obviously very talented. Beyond that, it is a horrible, horrible play, and I wish I had read up on it before suggesting to my friends that we all go. I am a huge fan of satirical, irreverent, biting humor, but this story is nothing more than cheap racist humor. The opportunity was there to make the racist statements through the eyes of a once racist religion (which religions aren't, honestly?), but instead, exaggerated stereotypes were perpetuated rather than challenged and even more vile ideas were introduced-- eg Ugandan men raping infants, for example. You're going to read this and dismiss my comments, relying instead on how popular the play has been, how many awards it has won, and how much money it has brought in, but I am going to tell you, there are really, really bad ugly parts to this, wrapped in beautiful voices and incredible performances. It is cheap, low brow, shock value based humor that lacks the usual intellect that goes with popular satirical pieces of writing.

I expected this musical to be offensive (went with a friend who wanted to see it), but it exceeded my expectations for being crass, crude and unimaginative. I just don't understand how people can think it is funny to do jokes about having sexual intercourse with a baby.

We are not religious and certainly not woke and not easily offended but found the Book of Mormon both crass and crude in its puerile humour, and utterly offensive in its portrayal of racial and cultural stereotypes.
The Eugene O’Neill theatre was cold and drafty, the seats were shabby, and there was the longest queue for the restrooms I’ve ever seen

Really a fantastic show, not good for the little ones but we could not leave them at the hotel. It's lived up to the hype! Seats are a little small if you are 6'3 like me you will be cramped.

This show is horrible. It portrays the worse stereotypes of blackpeople. I am not sure why this show is still on broadway. I payed almost $600 for my daughters and I to see this show and we felt uncomfortable the entire time. We wanted to leave but we figured since we payed so much to see it, we should stay and see it to the end....while hoping it would change direction. During the show the actors put on long black dildos and girated on each other. I felt disgusted and embarrassed while sitting there and seeing all these white people laugh and had a grand old time at the expense of blacks, gays and the mormon church. We must do better as a society. I know this is supposed to be satire but why at the expense of black people especially when the country is so divided. Shame on the writers. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!

While there were some very funny moments and witty satires, it was largely very offensive and awful for anyone of Faith. I was saddened to hear such laughter and applause for things that are really inappropriate and/or unnecessary...such as: 1) African people being largely typified as uneducated, dirty, AIDS-riddled people who are just interested in fornication; 2) a terrible slight against religion and spirituality (not just Mormons) where faith in God was shown as just superficial BS; 3) God being treated as an uninterested and unloving Being (the song "F*** you, God" was really awful); 4) I am open minded and accepting but it was overly dripping with homosexuality; 5) Baptism being equated to having sex for the first time; 6) Christ being presented as a judgmental jerk as He tells Kevin Price "you're a dick"; 7) Use of the F*** word WAY too many times. I'm sorry I contributed ticket money to this show.

This is a terribly racist show. It’s not satire it’s just racist AF. Left at intermission. If you’re ok with laughing at Ugandan people being portrayed as uneducated, riddled with AIDS and filthy, have at it. If you’re a person of color, this show will likely leave you sick to your stomach.

The hype made us go. we spent $2000 on tickets and had good seats. The show? a snore fest. I was super excited for the irreverent humor and gay jokes. Well, nothing. It was so over hyped we were all disappointed. The show was not great for contect, music, stage props...nada.
