What a neat feeling to be having a beer at such an historic establishment. You have to love the tap list... light or dark. Beer was 2 for 1 and they went down like cold water on a hot day. Highly recommended.

I was in New York recently and a friend took me to this landmark pub in the East Village. The exact date McSorley's started is debated but 1854 seems to be a generally accepted date. Nothing has changed since the opening day except for a...More

A fantastic piece of historic Manhattan preserved and living on largely unchanged from the 1850s - still has sawdust on the floor. Fantastic hospitality and a really interesting and quirky place to while away an hour. Lots of famous people have had either a dark...More

When my boyfriend first brought me here I will admit I was nervous. I come into the city about once a year and walking into McSorley's was nothing short of overwhelming. The place was absolutely packed. That being said, it was AMAZING. We were sat...More

While the Dark is tasty the Light Beer is brilliant. The history in this joint is amazing and makes you wonder who sat in your spots over the years

Loved this place. Husband in wheelchair and they accommodated us with kindness and efficiency. So fun. Beer kept coming with no monkey business bartender with a smile. Bouncer/host/waiter kept checking on us when things were very packed and fast paced. They really know how to...More

Fun bar with great history and atmosphere. Family style tables... you sit wherever there’s an open chair! Order a beer and you get two! Two beer choices... “light or dark!” Need an appetizer? You get cheese and crackers with a side of onion... and it’s...More

Great beer house with “most interesting man” feel, rustic and small pints of only light or dark beer. Cash only, bring about 40-60 per person. The small pints is the highlight, you can drink them pretty easily with friends and before you know it your...More

This place is legendary and justifiably so. Bit apprehensive when given the extensive beer choice of light or dark ale but both were great. Served in 1/2 pint tankards on gnarly tables with real spit and sawdust on the floor. Pictures of Brendan Behan evoked...More

There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village,
which offers plenty of unique small businesses
catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college
students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the
old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still
experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned
shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of

As my husband recalls from our July trip, it was $11 for the two of us for a double fisted round. The "dark" was awesome!.
