Staff are too overbearing

I go to this store all over the world and I even have a home 30 miles from the HQ in Manosque and the factory shop (10% off French retail prices), where they fill my bag with free... read more

I want to buy everything in this store. Each cream, soap, lotion or perfume smells like heaven! The sample perfumes at the door give you an idea of what you can find inside. Beauty for the body and soul!

The staff at L'Occitane are ridiculously overbearing. The moment I walked in, I told them that I wanted to shop on my own for a few minutes... 'sure,' they said. Not to be. Within four minutes I had been asked THREE times if I was 'still okay?" and then the upselling started in earnest. I immediately remembered why I do... More

I go to this store all over the world and I even have a home 30 miles from the HQ in Manosque and the factory shop (10% off French retail prices), where they fill my bag with free samples and are always extremely charming and helpful. Yet for some reason, in every outlet in the US, the staff are a... More

While treking from the Metropolitan Museum of Art to Lexington Avenue, I came upon a L'Occitane shop on the corner of Madison Avenue. Since I felt I had been walking forever, I bought some of the foot cream...so glad I did! The soothing cream felt so good and took care of the dryness so well that I am a loyal... More

If you like being smothered and marketed to by the sales staff the entire time that you are in the store, then L'Occitane is the place for you. This is consistent behavior that I have observed in every one of their stores that I have been in (NYC, Bridgewater, NY, Short Hills, NJ, King of Prussia, PA and Las Vegas.... More

Staying in SoHo

Neighbourhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
