Having not been to NYC for 18 years, and aware of the printed book's uncertain future, we were surprised and delighted to find the Strand Bookstore still going strong. To the uninitiated, it's both a used and discounted new, or like-new store, with miles of...More

Go here! Even if you don't buy anything. We spent an hour browsing the shelves filled with thousands of books and although we ended up walking out only with souvenirs and no books, we loved every second! The place is huge and as a book...More

A historic bookstore, one of the best collections of new and used books anywhere. We went to look specifically for books to teach English to speakers of other languages and found a couple of gems. Highly recommended for those looking for hard to find books.

I never get tired of visiting and browsing the shelves at Strand. Such variety and I also love the gift items. You could spend hours in here! Visit and support this independent bookstore.

Was no impressed with this bookstore. It was too warm in there and not really that special. It was an average bookstore except for its size.

Whether you are a reader or not, the Strand is a place to go. Size alone make this amazon of libraries unique - 4 floors with elevator, however if you take the stairs there are bookshelves on the landings. When you start perusing the shelves...More

We were disappointed that they would not allow donations at the Strand. Yes, their bookstore is amazing and has a lot. It's well organized and clean. Also has good little NYC gifts for people you need to bring home. Some staff is friendly...some are aloof....More

What a wonderful store. We could have spent endless hours there had time permitted, and the two hours that we could afford passed in a blink. A dazzling selection and knowledgeable staff. A NYC must do.
