The Strand Bookstore has two types of books they buy: Regular books and Rare books. Here's what you need to know.
First, the Strand doesn't buy what it doesn't need, so that means it won't buy your book if they already have enough, or they don't think customers would buy it.
Pricing. For regular books the Strand sells them for about half price, and since they aim to make a profit ... you probably won't get more than 1/4 of the cover price. Hint - You'll probably get more money if you sell your books when others aren't -- so go during early mornings, driving rain, and other times like that.
For rare books, go to the Rare Book Room on the Third floor of the bookstore, and they will give you a price if they are interested. From my experience they pay on the very low end, but few stores are buying rare books, so why not?
