Unfortunately I have to say you should RUN to Campbell Apartment to soak in the atmosphere and great drink selection before its shut down in a few weeks. The MTA in all its stupidity refused to renew the operator's lease and is bringing in another company who wants to make it all modern and kill its charm. Right now Campbell... More

I've been 3 times now to the Campbell Apartment for drinks. Mostly for the history and the atmosphere of the place. I love the way they shake up your drinks in an old fashioned manner. Drinks are pretty pricy but just go for a couple to experience the atmosphere and go elsewhere if you're looking to get loaded. Be warned... More

A quaint little cocktail bar that's great for sitting around and catching up with friends or coworkers. We went on a Thursday night and it was packed but still had a lot of charm. Drinks are expensive but by NY standards they're probably right in line with other nicer establishments

We made sure to follow the directions on the website about what to wear, and we enjoyed a drink and some great people watching. The bar itself was packed on a Thursday night, so we sat in the area downstairs -- still a great bar. A fabulous offering of creative, delicious drinks, and a fun stop!

I love the Campbell Apartment, a hidden gem in one of my favorite buildings - Grand Central Station. I enjoyed THE BEST Cosmopolitan I have ever had there this week. If you don't mind spending a bit more for fantastic service and a luxurious room in a private setting, then I highly recommend it!

The Campbell Apartment is a cocktail bar, which reminds me of some places in London. It is nicely restored and it really has the old world charm. It's clientele seems to be mainly business men, but also also couples and some tourists, although the prices are very high even for Manhattan. If you want to sit down, you might have... More

Off in a quiet corner of Grand Central you will find a restored cocktail lounge once inhabiting the office of 1920’s financial tycoon John W. Campbell. This is luxury done exactly right. Walking in you'll be immersed in 25 foot ceilings with an obnoxiously large faux fireplace that is placed in a room wrapped in a mahogany balcony. Self titled... More

Campbell Apartment is a beautifully restored, speak easy feel bar that makes you feel transported to the time of F. Scott Fitgerald. It is one of the most strikingly beautiful bars I have seen in NYC. The whole atmosphere transports you back to a grand time which is an accomplishment in itself. It does itself disservice by being greeted by... More

Went there on New Years Eve Day. Interesting story. Very cool decor -- dark and mysterious. Lots of tourists -- but it WAS New Years Eve. Drinks are way overpriced -- but it IS NYC and it IS Grand Central Terminal. I highly recommend going.

The Campbell apartment is a buried treasure and a well kept secret. I lived in NY over 20 years before I found this place. It's located in Grand Central Station but it's not easy to find. You enter from the side. You walk up a stair case and you walk right into the past. Wonderful classic drinks, dark paneled walls... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
