I've long known about this "hidden" historic lounge in Grand Central Terminal, but this is my first time having a drink here. You used to be able to enter the bar from the terminal, but that walkway is now a restaurant, so you have to exit the terminal and enter via another set of doors. The bar has 3 separate areas, the Bar, Palm Court and Terrace, but the original Bar is where you want to be to be surrounded by glamour from a bygone era. My primary reason for visiting was to see and take photos, and the staff does not seem to mind looky-loos, but I had a drink (non-alcoholic) anyway, which was fine. There is a menu of small nibbles as well.
The Bar has a balcony where you can sit as well that affords nice views. The single restroom is located here.
Stop by for a look/drink/bite. They accept reservations and I think it can get quite crowded at times.

After getting a recommendation from a family member knowing I was planning a trip to New York I couldn’t resist trying to find this hidden away bar, far from the NYC “Norm”. It didn’t disappoint, and the staff we’re very welcoming and friendly. I must also say that the measures were very generous with the cocktails and could have spent most of the day there going through his well stocked bar.

We were a party of six, when at $800 plus into our tab we were told to leave as another party needs the table. Men with hoodies were told to remove them-its been under freezing in NY. So racist. The manager didn't care that we were in the middle of our food and champagne, we were told that he doesn't care about creating a clientele. We left and will never be back. I suggest your spare yourselves the expense and the nonsense and go elsewhere.

Well... we used to come at Campbel's when we are in NYC.
First time in 2012, with dress code.
No sneakers, no holes in trousers, no shorts.
And really hidden behind the Italian restaurant.
Service was Top. Ice cold water as usual for free, to start chosing the main drinks.
Today ? People are welcome with Crocs or worst shoes. The place is historical, select, and became just a tourist place. Sad.
However, beautiful place. Good cocktails.
Some of them expensive >22 USD.

this bar is beautiful but not letting someone in for wearing clean stylish Birkenstocks is an outdated , pretentious, and unnecessary rule. Because my sandals didn't have straps? I’ve been several times in the past and enjoyed the bar. if someone is dressed presentably (I was wearing a pretty dress and require shoes with support) they should be let in. this place attracts tourists. I was very disappointed and don’t think I’ll go back due to this rude and unfair discrimination .

The place is nice but somehow a bit a tourist place, at least when i was there. The interior has it all for a very classy bar, but…. The music is a joke as there is just not a bar vibe

Had a drink after dinner while waiting for the train. The entrance was just outside the terminal. No seating was available but the bar counter was first come first serve. Very cool spot with the architecture and story. Great service. Good value.

We only had time for one cocktail before moving onto dinner elsewhere but what a treat! Beautiful location, attentive staff and killer cocktails.
We'll definitely come back for more.

Such a great bar and throwback to another era. We so enjoyed our little corner with drinks and appetizers! A wonderful place within Grand Central and worth a visit!

Well where do I start? My partner and I visited the Campbell whilst on holiday in NYC. Having researched the bar I was very much looking forward to visiting and sampling the alcoholic delights kept within.
Tucked away in the amazing Grand Central is the bar, a throwback to the roaring 20s without the usual gimmicks of other pretenders.
Cocktail selection is typical of the era and I would recommend the Old Fashioned if you love a boozy tipple that packs a punch.
Only downside was that there was no live singer or jazz band playing and seating capacity is limited.

II was there early afternoon. Not busy, not cheap, but beatiful bar and service . Cheese board was excellent. Well wrth a visit . Even if you go for one drink.
Is there a strict dress code, a lot of sites say every from smart to casual which can mean anything so basically where does it stand on
1 ) smart jeans
2 ) polo shirts ( like a collard t shirt )

We visited on our first day before we had a chance to check in, so we were in our traveling clothes. I was in leggings, boots and a sweater. My son was wearing khakis, a t-shirt and a denim jacket. We were there in the early afternoon.

My wife and I are beer people, I'd like to see a beer menu w/ prices if available. Planning to add this as a stop for our upcoming trip. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I know that I am going to be dressed in shorts when I visit, and plan to be in GCT around noon, but how strict is Campbell Apartment about just "sightseeing"? I am assuming I wouldn't be able to purchase a cocktail since it's proper attire, but it's noon, on a Saturday in the middle of July... There's no way I'm going to be dressed for a night on the town... I just want to see the space.

Thank you for your interest in The Campbell Apartment. You may certainly pop by to see the space if you are wearing shorts. Our outdoor Terrace will be open to the public (and is a bit more casual) if you would like to enjoy a drink there.
