New York icon. Luckily timed with semi-annual sale. Beautiful merchandise and lovely helpful staff. Truly a unique NYC shopping experience without the touristy feel.

Nice enough store but don't get sucked in at the cash to give them an email address. They will spam the crap out of your inbox. 16 emails in 8 days...AFTER I tried to unsubscribe. No response and the hits just keep on coming! Don't do it!

High fashion handbags and jewelry are the staples here. But the big surprise was discovering that the painted-over second floor windows contained fine examples of glass by the famous French glass designer Rene Lalique. The store is very expensive and an acquired taste, IMHO.

I visited HB for the first time two years ago - it was fun to shop in such an iconic NY establishment. They even refreshed my make up for free - a true relaxing experience! Went again two weeks ago and things seem to have changed: the make up counter and clothes section have gone, they only sell accessories now. Beautiful... More

At one time you had the most beautiful things in the world. Now 2016 you just have things. When you decided to get rid of all the vendors you had, you lost Manhattan shoppers.

Excitement quickly fades upon entering the store, one gets a feeling the store/brand is on its last breath. Only two levels are left in operation, with the second one selling items at 50%. Most jewelry is of rather poor quality, purses and wallets are a mixed bag (many new styles are tacky, esp the heavily jeweled items). Many cute little... More

I purchased a beautiful orange purse with brown and white stripes on it back in the spring. I decided to use this purse as my fall handbag. I've received compliments ever since! While I was in NY I had to check out their store. A very nice lady helped me out and explained where I how to fix problems with... More

I grew up shopping at the wonderful old Henri Bendel store--still have packages of their tights! Alas, the store was bought out by a bland mall name (The Limited) and they have destroyed the wonderful character of this unique store. The Bendels name has been co-opted, and the store now markets its brand-name handbags and costume jewelry. There are a... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
