It was the perfect Sunday activity. I have lived in NYC for 11 years and would recommend this tour to tourists AND locals. We tried foods from 8 places around the Lower East Side and learned a lot of interesting history and trivia about the area as well. Each spot added a different element to the tour. Frank was great... Went on West Village Tour. We've been on a number of these and, to me, the guide makes all the difference. We went with Ian, who was great, a lot of history, local factoids, etc.. Worked hard taking care of group, cleaning up, making sure everyone was having a good time, good personality. The tour was fun, one of the... More

Want more history! The guide did not talk much. If no questions, just keep talking. I wanted history but did not know what to ask. Also the day before passover is not the best time as there are several jewish delis. Plenty of food. A good way to taste new york.

Tour guide Frank was both knowledgeable and entertaining while taking us to great places to sample the best of NYC's authentic Jewish delis and other great eateries. My husband and I have been on more than 10 food tours worldwide and this was one of the best!

I've been on over a dozen food tours, and Ian was the best guide ever. This was actually my second West Village Food Tour, but Ian pointed out new info, including the Hess Triangle, the Friends apartment, and a hilarious story about Sarah Jessica Parker outside the Cherry Theater. The food was fine--nothing mind-blowing but all of it good--and the... More

Our guide was Frank. Very friendly thoughtful. It was a group of 18 but managed to give us some background information and history. Good food choices

Our West Village Food Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and had a great relationship with all of the restaurants we visited. Sweet Revenge and Molly's Cupcakes were amazing. We are already planning another food tour for our next NYC visit.

My girlfriend and I had time to choose only one food tour during our vacation in New York. We decided to go with the Sidewalks of New York's Lower East Side food tour and we were very happy with our decision! Frank was a great tour guide and was extremely helpful with any questions we had, even with our questions... More

My friend and I wanted to do something fun in NYC for the day and found this on Groupon. I have had other friends go on this tour who also loved it. We had Frank as our tour guide and he was fantastic! My friend and I are born and raised NYC locals and still learned a lot about the... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
