If you are fans of GMA this is so much fun. I visited in October 2021 and to my knowledge they still aren't having an in studio audience so we just stood outside and watched through the window. It was better than I could have imagined though. There weren't very many people the morning we went which was nice so we could see in and watch them. It was so cool getting to watch it live and in person after watching the show every morning for years. Michael waved to us during commercials. And then the morning only got better when filming was done and ROBIN ROBERTS herself came out and said hi and took pictures with everyone. It was an absolute dream. I'd definitely recommend this experience to anyone who loves GMA.

Awesome experience. The staff was first class. Register ahead of time with 1iota! Dress warm as you are outside a while before going into the studio. We were able to meet the GMA team and get pics with a few. It was awesome!

1. go to 1iota.com and get your tickets ahead of time.... if you are a superfan in 1iota, it says that you are going to get a better chance of getting a ticket. Have everyone in your party try to sign up in 1iota if you are gunning to get a ticket to see a special guest. for GMA you can bring up to 2 guests.
I went on March 11 to see Idris Elba and I had signed up 3 weeks before... i didn't get a ticket but my friend did and she put me as a guest.
if you want to see a celebrity and you know they are going to GMA or might go to GMA (or any of ABC's daytime shows) put that show on favorite in 1iota. I have seen Sting and Benedict Cumberbatch that way.
2. Check your email often because 1iota upgrades tickets randomly . Tickets in 1iota are tiered: VIP, Priority and General admission. We had general admission tickets first then was offered Priority tickets but we had to claim it online.
priority and general admission tickets are NOT guaranteed admission to the show.... it says so in the ticket so don't think just because you have a ticket you will get a spot.
I don't know how to get a VIP ticket, but I have seen them. Priority tickets are the first group to get in after VIP ticket holders.... after that group, the general admission ticket holders are let in. If there are still spots left, then Stand-by people are allowed to get in.
3. Arrive early if you want a good spot. Our tickets were Priority and it said 6:15am check in time. I arrived at 4:45 am to make sure my group was the first in line. The next few people arrived at 5 am. By 6:15 am there were about 70 people behind me.
The studio capacity changes depending on the props they set up. That day it was about 100. I spoke to the guy at the door, he said that capacity does not reach more than 175. Doors opened a little after 6:30 and we had to go through a metal detector, and up 3 flights of steps. The studio is at the second floor.
4. line up at 44th street and Broadway across the Gap store. On 44th street facing Broadway, lines are arranged like this: Priority Ticket holders line up against the wall(use the stage door as a marker) and General Ticket holders line up near the curb but still on the sidewalk, use the NO STANDING / NO PARKING SIGN as a marker for general admission ticket holders. They don't want people to block the sidewalk. So imagine there are three lines: one closest to the wall (for Priority), middle line (open for people walking on the sidewalk) and last by the curb (for General ticket holders). There are no people directing people where priority and general ticket holder are supposed to line up. People just lined up behind me assuming it's their line.... I had to ask them what kind of ticket they have and directed them to the line they were supposed to go.
5. Be prepared... It was 45 degrees and windy. I was prepared to stand and be in the cold. I had disposable hand warmers and brought a coffee mug with warm water to sip. I bought a change of shoes. Before going in I had to dump all liquid in my mug.
Bring your ID, they check it and you will not get admitted if your name does not match the name on the ticket. same goes with your guest name.
6. Caveat on bathroom break. If you do not have to take it, DO NOT take a bathroom break because you will lose your place in line. I took a bathroom break and people who did not do a bathroom break got in the studio before me. HOWEVER, if you pass up on the bathroom break be prepared to hold it until show ends at 9 am. They do not make exceptions on this.
also They will not seat you unless all of your group are there. My friends went on bathroom break and I saw people after people pass me to be seated because I had to wait for my friends.
7. You can bring a back pack, but you have to check your bag at the door. i changed my shoes from boots to pumps.
8. Wear bright colors but and make up... The studio will decide where are going to be seated based on how you will look like on TV. I also noticed that single people are placed on edges more than the middle. I did tell the the studio people that I was there to see the guest celebrity and told them I want a nice view of the guest. I was seated at second row.
9. You cannot bring banners or posters, they will confiscate it. Mine was put away.
10. There is a comedian who warms up the show and tells the audience howto clap and react during the show.
11. it was cold in the studio because they do not want the hosts to sweat.

I hope you find this before you go and get in and seated on the spot you want. in the end Idris Elba cancelled and it was all for naught. Michael Strahan was not even there.

We had general tickets and we were upgraded to priority tickets. We arrived prior to the 6:15 am time as advised and waited in line for about 90 minutes. We were not given any information while we waited. It was nearing 8:00 am and we and the crowd of people with tickets in front and in back of us were told that we were not going to be admitted. We were offered the option of getting our tickets scanned for next week to get priority tickets. What is the point of getting priority tickets if you are not going to be admitted? It would have been customer friendly to give updates that we might not be getting in. People with priority tickets should be given the message that this does not guarantee you admittance. I probably would have stayed in bed vs waking up at 5 am if I knew this was a possibility. I will not make the effort to visit in the future. You can do better Good Morning America. Not a fan of your treatment of potential audience members.

My daughter and I got up early on a recent trip to New York and headed over to the Good Morning America show. We had a blast! Get there early (we got there about 6:30) but don't be fooled by the crowd waiting outside the studio windows. Turn around and walk over to the partition of the outside studio. We were some of the first folks and were front and center for all of the outdoor shots. The crew and hosts were wonderful and we enjoyed every minute of it! Completely worth getting up for. It was one of our favorite things we did in NYC! I would totally do it again and I would recommend for anyone!

We had tickets through 1ioto and we were 15th in line, we got there super early, there must have easily been over a 100 people in line behind us, the line stretched up the street, all people with tickets. When the casting crew of Good morning America finally came out, they took TEN people inside! First they put in charge two clueless interns, the boy started picking a random en, instead of taking the first ten in line and caused an issue because people all claimed that he called them, so they pushed their way inside and left the four that he actually called behind. By this time the lines around the outside area were too busy to see much of anything! While I understand that the ticket is not a guarantee, there should be some communication between GMA and 1iota as to how many tickets should be put out AND while all of us idiots were standing in the the GMA people could have had the common courtesy of letting us know that only 10 of us would be allowed in and/or that the rest of us would have premium standing room outside, or if they had told us early enough we could have just stood out there. We drove from Philadelphia and stayed the night to do this and it was an extremely poorly organized experience. Will never do it again AND no one from the show came out once to say hi to us while in line or outside. Complete waste of time and money.

we got there about and hour before the show started and were right on the front row. before the show went live a few of the stars came out and talked to me my wife and child. Robin Roberts and Josh Elliot were wonderful to talk to and even took some pictures with us behind the railing. highly recommend whenever you are in new york city. you will love it and its free!

While visiting New York City, and staying in time square, my husband and I walked across the street and joined the group of fellow tourists gathered outside the studio and caught part of the live broadcast one morning.

The area is surprisingly easy to access . The amount of on-lookers depends on the time of year, and weather.

No charge, or need for advance ticket purchase.

Having watched GMA for years, it has been on my bucket list to attend a taping. To be honest I was actually hoping to see Michael Strahan, as I am currently reading his book and brought it with me hoping for an autograph. Sadly, it was not a day he was there!
We arrived about 6am for the 7 am show. Wasn't too busy at that time. I wish there was a little more information about the best place to watch, but we figured out where the window was to see the main desk, as well as the door that the newscasters used to go out to the deck area.
Ginger Zee and Robin were just as friendly and pleasant as could be. I actually had a selfie with Robin (that she gladly gave), but my phone was acting up so it didn't work out!! :( We were on TV quite a bit, which they set up ahead of time and was fun.
Outside, Robin was interviewing Breanna Stewart the #1 WBA draft pick from UCONN, who is locally from Syracuse near where we live. Such a thrill to see her up very, very close!
Fun time, and a check off on the bucket list! Highly recommend!!

We visited GMA in Times Square on October 19th. We got there around 5:30 am and were the first people there. It was freezing cold that day but we had a great time. We stood front and center at their set they have for outdoor segments. They came out about 5 times while we were out there. We were able to see the anchors up close and we made it on TV several times. Ginger Zee even took selfies with everyone. It was a great time and I'd definitely recommend it!
