Looking for things to do during the day before shows, I stumbled upon Broadway Up Close and was thrilled that they were able to accommodate our last minute request (less than 23 hours out). The tour was exactly as advertised, with tons of info about the people (characters, really) and places that made Broadway what it is today. The company... More

As "Gypsies" (which means this is our fourth BUC tour) this walking tour just keeps getting better and better. This installment was Hamiltour. We were lucky enough to see Hamilton with the original cast last year, on the recommendation of Ben, our Act I tour guide the prior year. This year we had Molly a little spitfire of a guide... More

We had such a fantastic time on the Broadway Up Close Hamiltour! We started the day with their extremely well researched historical tour that tied everything into the musical. It was really incredible to visit so many important sites and learn how they were all weaved into the play. My respect for Alexander Hamilton as well as Lin-Manuel Miranda is... More

Being a theater fan, I have been making annual trips to NYC to attend musicals and plays ever since 2012, either from other states or all the way from China. This time I booked seven shows to see during my five-day visit, but I really want to find something else to do during the day, preferrably relating to theater, and... More

I was lucky enough to do Acts I and II only a couple of days apart. Both covered different theaters as well as provided different insight to the areas being explored. Each tour is guided by someone in the theater arena, with a love of their craft and history of the area. Fabulous fun facts about the area at large... More

This is an excellent company! Having enjoyed taking the Act I tour a few years ago, decided to take the Act II tour. Our guide was Theresa and she was terrific. My friend and I enjoyed hearing about the history of various Broadway theaters. I look forward to taking the Act III tour sometime in the future!

Can't rave enough about this wonderful tour! It was part of my daughter's 16th birthday surprise trip to NYC. We both loved every minute of the tour. It was a highlight of the trip. We were lucky enough to have Tim Dolan, owner, as our tour guide. He is animated, engaging and knowledgeable about all things Broadway past and present -... More

this is a must do tour for those who have seen Hamilton: An American Musical or are interested in the historic perspective of the time. Very knowledgeable guides and access to the spots is easy. Must do in NYC. Rain or shine.

Met our guide on time at appointed location! She was a fun, upbeat person with lots of knowledgee of Broadway and the theater business. Told us so many stories and history that we'd never heard. Theresa is a stage manager and hearing about her job and life was fascinating. We learned so much and would recommend "Up Close Walking Tours"... More

My wife & I recently visited NYC specifically to enjoy some Broadway shows. While there we took the BUC Hamiltour & it was outstanding. Cary was our guide. He connected with all of the guests on our tour & his enthusiasm for the theater was very apparent. He brought to life the history of A. Ham's old neighborhood & added... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
