Neighbourhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Absolutely beautiful place, superb carvings and decorations. Worth a visit. You must pass a small security checkpoint (which is strange because the St Patrick's Cathedral nearby is not that hard to get in and a lot more people) but very nice.

Its artistically gilded altars, with inlay of precious stones, and ornate interiors, making it among the most spectacular churches. Another unique thing about this church is that it has its own museum displaying paintings sculptures and artefacts.

it's a beautiful church, but it's quite dim inside, so difficult to take picture with both people and the scene. it's near the St. Patrick Cathedral, so stop by to take a look if you are visiting the St. Patrick Cathedral, but of course the St. Patrick Cathedral is much bigger

the altar is one of the most beautiful ones in the world each figure has its own history and together makes an eyecatching scene. altogether the atmosphere is steeped in antiquity and one cant help but feeling the procession of the ages as one sits drinking in the feeling of ages past

It is a great place to rest and feel the quietness from busy 5th st. I visited the St. Thomas Church after MOMA. It was just 3 min's walk.

St.Thomas probably does play second fiddle to St Patricks which is just down the street. Never the less, this is also magnificent and worth a visit.

While this may not be "hidden" because it's right on 5th, it is certainly overshadowed by its location. People walk right past here, as I have on numerous other visits to NYC. Glad to have taken the time to stop in on this visit. The church interior is beautiful and peaceful. A very nice church to stop in to rest and think. Beautiful Gothic architecture.

This is a beautiful, huge, church with a very remarkable altar and plenty of stain glass windows. The rose stain glass window at the back of the church over the organ is especially beautiful. This church is definitely worth visiting.

Beautiful church. We went inside for some warmth and silence. It was wonderful to sit there and take in the incredible carvings that make up the main altar. I would have loved to hear a choir or someone play the organ but this was a spontaneous early morning visit.

We had visited the church in the past for it's architecture and history, but had the opportunity to purchase tickets to a concert performed on their beautiful, historical pipe organ. The church was quite packed. They began promptly which I enjoy. The performer did an amazing job of introducing each piece with a great description of what to expect in sounds from the instrument, as well as the history of the piece. While I wish at least part of the program were pieces that the general public may have recognized, the performance was great. The restrooms at the church entrance are very small, only two people at a time, and there were many waiting in long lines after the performance. Some of the church staff were motivating people to leave so they could close the church. I don't know if that was proper.
