One of the most popular monuments in Central Park, the Alice in Wonderland Statue was dedicated in 1959. It sits in a scenic spot near the Conservatory Water. The statue is quite large and is a popular spot for children to climb up on top of it. Nearby is the Hans Christian Andersen statue where a children's storytelling program takes place every Saturday morning during the summer. The statue was a gift to the city from the famous publisher George Delacorte in remembrance of his recently deceased wife as this was her favorite book to read to their children.

This is worth a visit if your in Central Park. Especially if your a Alice in wonderland fan.
Go early in the morning to avoid it getting too busy we went on a Monday morning at around 7.30am and there was no one there so we could get some clear snap.

The number of times I’ve been in Central Park and this was the first time I’ve stumbled apon Alice in Wonderland Statue. I know it’s ‘just’ a statue but there’s something magical about it and especially here in Central Park. I say it’s definitely worth seeing and an absolute must if with kids.

ok, it's a statue. but a very charming one at that. many hidden details that are fun to discover. been to CP many times but first time seeing this beauty. took a cute photo there. it's worth a little detour but I would not specifically go out of my way to see it.

The Alice in Wonderland statue is one of the well-known statues inside Central Park. It's located between the Loeb Boathouse and 5th Avenue on the Upper East Side. The bronze statue includes Alice as well as other characters from the Lewis Carroll book. While probably not worth a trip by itself, it is worth finding if already in Central Park. It's easily found along the walking path and appears on most online maps.

It was a nice and interesting statue and a good photo opportunity, but be warned that it might take a long time to get one as a lot of people feel the need to sit on the statue for a photo, which means that it is ages before you can get your own snap.

Kids are hanging and climbing and parents are taking photos for just doing something and others do the same. This Statue is more for older generation than kids.

An absolutely swell statue in the middle of a huge park in the middle of one of the biggest concrete jungle's on Earth is definitely impressive to see. Not an essential visit but if you're going to visit Central Park (which is in fact essential) this is worth the trip as the area surrounding it is just like the rest of the park, splendid, and the statue is pretty, well made, and a fun reference to beloved characters.

In the east of Central Park around 74th street inside the park is a huge big statue of Alice in wonderland!!!! My kids went crazy and immediately ran and climbed up on the statues. They didn't want to get off but other people was waiting to take pictures of the statue. Very nice for kids and if you love taking pictures it is very epic. Very close to a lake also. Thank me later. Enjoy

José de Creeft's larger than life bronze Alice sculpture in Central Park memorializes Alice, the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit from Lewis Carol's Alice In Wonderland children's book. Alice is seen sitting on a large mushroom (which she never actually does in the book, but never mind), surrounded by the characters. de Creeft bases his characterizations on the famous illustrations of John Tenniel, which appeared in the original Alice In Wonderland book. That said, the Mad Hatter's face is considerably more grotesque than Tenniel's drawings of him—we can only wonder if this was de Creeft's intention. Regardless, kids love to climb the sculpture and you'll find a large crowd there on most weekends when the weather is fine. There used to be children's story readings at the sculpture Saturday mornings, but I don't believe that they occur any more (pity). The sculpture is in my favorite little section of the park. Immediately south of the Alice sculpture is the Conservatory Pond, or what my family has always called the Stuart Little pond after the E.B. White mouse character who captains a model sailboat in a race through the pond. The model sail boat races, which preceded E.B. White's children's novel, continue to this day (these days conducted by remote control and not strings and sticks as they once were). If the Central Park Model Yacht Club headquarters (? – clubhouse, hut?) is open, poke your head in to view all of the model boats -- it's quite something to behold. Together, the Alice sculpture and the boat pond are a little nod to the 19th Century in Central Park, and one can spend a very civilized hour or so there enjoying the park, the breeze, the sun's reflections on the water, the children playing and the landscaping around the pond.

I'm looking to find a bust of my Grandmother in Brooklyn near water. Her maiden name was Elsie Volpe. That's all I know.

What's the best subway station for Alice in wonderland statue
Written 26 February 2017
Both previous answers are useful as far as they go. However, there are two lines passing through the 77th St & Lexington station; the already mention 6 train as well as the 4 train, so that may increase your options depending on where you are staying.
With regard to bus transport, it helps to know that the M1, M2, M3 & M4 buses head Downtown along 5th Avenue. The same buses head back Uptown along Madison Avenue, so again, which buses you might use will depend on where you are staying. Also bear in mind that if you use buses, you must have the right fare in hand when you board, since I believe drivers do not dispense change. Of course, if you have an MTA card, that can be used on buses as well as the subway system.

Die Position ist auf der Karte falsch zugeordnet. Der richtige Standort ist der nordöstliche Rand des Conservatory Water.
