I love Madison Avenue. It offers a variety of shops to browse and enjoy, plus you don't feel overwhelmed by crowds and tourists like in other parts of the City. I usually walk downtown after visiting one of the uptown museums and continue to 34th Street where I turn west to go to Penn Station. The walk (for me anyway)... More

Love Madison Avenue, the shops, the eateries and the people. It is different to most other parts of Manhattan, it's not as touristy, there are larger homes there, more money in the area and the shops on Madison reflect this. All the high end stores are there and the choice is overwhelming. Perfect for window shopping or making that plunge... More

Has so much to enjoy, a long street that changes character in different blocks. Wonderful shopping on the Upper East Side, some of the best names in retail like Barney's, further down wonderful parks like Madison Park, restaurants like Eleven Madison, hotels like New York Edition but no matter where you are, it all reeks of quality.

Madison Avenue was definitely designed for people who love to shop and who don't mind spending a little more than the average person. There was so much to look at and take in. I could have shopped all day but my boyfriend started to get shopped out after about an hour. Even if you don't have money to shop in... More

We always preferred walking Madison to the more famous avenues. Everything from fun bars to interesting art shops and great restaurants. Easy walking and very safe.

Madison Avenue was fun. Barneys was the highlight for me. Being able to see and feel the incredible designer clothes that I have admired from afar for so long was a real pleasure. I would describe the floors as showrooms.

Madison Avenue in NYC is a high end shopper's paradise. I've visited the Chanel Boutique on Madison Avenue and actually received very nice customer service--also on Madison Avenue is Barneys New York, Armani, Alexander McQueen, and a Christian Louboutin boutique. The Madison Avenue boutiques are THE place to drop cash if you've got it, and there is something special about... More

Firstly, please see the review of Oliver S "Ralph Lauren, here we come". I loved walking the Avenues! The shopping and sights are amazing! There is a real vibe on Madison Avenue and very close by are many points of interest, including St. Patrick's Cathedral, Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Center, Chrysler Building and Empire State Building. I have to say... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
