Madison Avenue was definitely designed for people who love to shop and who don't mind spending a little more than the average person. There was so much to look at and take in. I could have shopped all day but my boyfriend started to get shopped out after about an hour. Even if you don't have money to shop in... More

We always preferred walking Madison to the more famous avenues. Everything from fun bars to interesting art shops and great restaurants. Easy walking and very safe.

Madison Avenue was fun. Barneys was the highlight for me. Being able to see and feel the incredible designer clothes that I have admired from afar for so long was a real pleasure. I would describe the floors as showrooms.

Madison Avenue in NYC is a high end shopper's paradise. I've visited the Chanel Boutique on Madison Avenue and actually received very nice customer service--also on Madison Avenue is Barneys New York, Armani, Alexander McQueen, and a Christian Louboutin boutique. The Madison Avenue boutiques are THE place to drop cash if you've got it, and there is something special about... More

Firstly, please see the review of Oliver S "Ralph Lauren, here we come". I loved walking the Avenues! The shopping and sights are amazing! There is a real vibe on Madison Avenue and very close by are many points of interest, including St. Patrick's Cathedral, Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Center, Chrysler Building and Empire State Building. I have to say... More

Love the energy of the City. The shopping never stops. You can walk forever and see a little fashion, beatiful people, hear multiple languages and wonderful smells coming from the food carts. I never get tired of being in this city. I was there for the shopping, to see a show, looking at galleries and maybe get to the museums... More

Madison is an anomaly in the otherwise orderly grid of Manhattan. Avenues in Manhattan have numbers: First, Second, Tenth and they go North-South. Exception is Broadway which is diagonal. Some avenues have also names: Fourth is Lexington and Sixth is Avenue of the Americas. But Madison is just that: Madison. It's between 23rd & 138th Street, East of Fifth. The... More

Secret tip...have a 5-minute look at the lobby of this building. In my view, this is the nicest building in NYC from an architectural perspective. And the neigborhood (Madison Square Park) is the nicest in the city.

Strolled down Madison Ave with friends after visiting a gallery. Just about every high end store is located here and if you are interested in fashion, you will see what's in fashion. Many designers have shops and there are a lot of boutique stores. There and there is a lot to see whether you enjoy window-shopping or spending a lot... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
