Joe's Pub. Went to see and hear Betty Buckley. Had a drink and food at table. Prosecco and veggie burger with fries. Very good. Enjoyed it all. Food was secondary experience; went for the beyond beautiful songs of Betty Buckley. Perfect.

We caught a matinee of For Colored Girls...It was a delight of theater, song, dancing, poetry and acting. It is a performance piece not easily fit not any one genre or style. It was uplifting and exciting. The players pour their hearts into the performance. Outstanding theater!

Val and I just saw Socrates with Michael Stuhlbarg in the lead role. Bravo, Amazing, Great Performances!
I also enjoyed that the theater was small and with no bad seats.
This was my first time here and it won’t be my last. I’m soooo tired of the over priced broadway plays that this was like a breath of fresh air.
We’ll be back.

Yes, the lights and budgets of Broadway are bigger and brighter. Yes, you’re going to see a lot of new American plays here — and that’s a good thing. Every time I see a show here, I’m reminded of the value and immediacy of the theater. This is the birthplace of Hamilton, Hair, and a Chorus Line. If you’re looking for world-class theater that won’t break your budget, it’s hard to go wrong going here.

Terrific, moving and very deep production of Grounded with Anne Hathaway just recently extended until May 24th, you will definitely not be disappointed with her solo performance in this very small venue, only sits around 250 give or take in a u shape. Tickets are reasonably priced and can take advantage of $20 rush tickets 2 hours prior to performance time. Show only runs about 75 minutes. DON'T MISS this show!!

We've been subscribers to the Public for many years (we live in NYC), and have had many memorable experiences. People who like theatre should put this on their list when planning a trip. there are usually several different productions going on at the same time. There may be something that interests you. Last night, we saw "Hamilton," a musical biography of Alexander Hamilton. It was wonderful. Like many of their productions, it seems to be groomed for Broadway.

The show was fantastic. I learned more about Imelda Marcos and what happened in the Phillipines than I ever did from TV news. There's audience participation that's not heavy-handed or awkward. The music from David Byrne is unique, compelling, and catchy. My reaction to the final number showed me I was definitely into the show. It caught me a little off-guard.

The Library bar here makes fantastic cocktails in a great wood-paneled, dark leather, ambiance.

Plays at the Public Theatre are always thought-provoking but never more so than in their Under the Radar series that runs every winter (now thru Jan 19). For $30 you can see some of the world's most daring and interesting plays featuring fresh actors and stylish direction.
